Re: Tactical sling shots.

The HFX is a fine tool for someone with strength to handle it. Since it's purchase, I've made my own slingshot, with a wrist strap. It can't take down a deer like the HFX can, but it could handle small game and it a great tool for mid-distance defense. I keep the HFX around for my students to try. ...

Re: California Drought

1. Offer heavy tax deductions to prescription free clean eaters, willing to convert to composting toilets. People flush 3-10 gallons of drinking water a day, which is ridiculous. Humanure is great for crops like corn and fruiting trees/bushes. What do you do when the "prescription free eater" comes...

Re: California Drought

How about simply metering how much water the farmer is pulling out of the aquifer and asses them accordingly....oh, wait, they do that already????? Nevermind. Except California hasn't been metering ag groundwater consumption, and they've passed legislation so that even when metering of agricultural...

Re: California Drought

Government already provides tax breaks for green energy/green living. I obtained them for my solar panel and organic garden (since I often sell produce at the St. Paul farmers market). Composting and grey water systems/permaculture agriculture, fall under the green movement. My ideas aren't calling ...

Re: California Drought

Tax laws are laws, the same as gun law or any other law. <---- Thats not discussing politics, anymore than gun threads talking about carry/permit laws are discussing politics. This is about the drought, and realistic ways to resolve it without furthering harm or force, like "kill all the livestock"...

Can ALL OF YOU tone down the insults and namecalling here? Because I'm happy to argue about details, but this particular meme has also go a point. (I saw it first from another ZSer in another drought thread that got killed because some people can't discuss without resorting to insults. Let's not re...

Re: Tactical sling shots.

I have the HFX slingshot, but it's completely useless to me. I can draw it, but I'm not able to maintain a steady guide hand (Draw weight of 48lbs over a small control area). I thought I'd be able to handle it, since my PVC bow has a 65lb draw, but nooooope. Heads up to any women thinking about purc...

. Work with nature, not against Her. Nature isn't a person, male or female, nor is it a deity.   Yeah, and tax politics are tax politics. Not really a topic for discussion at ZS. A BOL less than 10 miles from a population of 70,000, and along a rail line? Sounds perfectly safe. No one will ever find you lol.

Cool new residence though, good luck!

Re: California Drought

Nicely done. As a San Diego native, there is a rather large perception problem about living in the desert. I had to water my lawn every other day to keep it green. The only other option was to go drought tolerant, which people don't want to do, because why pay a ton for your house just to put rocks...

Re: Baseball bat modifications

Silly rabbit, you don't use a baseball bat, you use a golf club. It's easier to wield, harder to defend against and blunt force trauma does more damage, when condensed.

Re: putting together a Vehicle Accident Kit

Never move an accident victim unless it is an emergency, meaning you see the train actually coming or you see artery blood spurting. Instead, clear the way to remove the victim if necessary, but leave them in place until EMS can assist. For basic accident First Aid, all you need is disposable surgic...

I've Returned From The Third World!

Landed stateside this weekend, after four months in Ghana (W. Africa) volunteering for Medics Without Borders. It was quite the experience. Glad to be back on the ZS board, hope I didn't miss anything too exciting. :D

Re: Paramedics out there with a bag recommendation?

Look at the warranties. The REAL warranties. In my experience Thomas packs sucks. You'd be better off betting something built for the military, like a tactical tailor. Made in America. With a real warranty. How about Honor Point USA? See what they can do. Or even CTOMS. I'd rather go to them any da...

Re: Mental Illness in a Post Apocalyptic World

Great post. Clinical depression is a horrible disease. I have a bi-polar friend that really struggles. I'm afraid we'll lose her to suicide, when she grows too weary of the battle. Like any PAW, those most willing and able to adapt (combined with a lot of luck), will survive and someday thrive. Ment...

Re: BOB Advice

Get a different pack. Nothing screams "I prepared for the zombie apocalypse.", like a tactical BOB. I know people who's survival plan is to sit in the trees and snipe people with tactical BOB's, because they've recognized that those are the people that will be the most prepared. The Grey Man surviv...
