Re: Do you know a future marauder?

Not trying to provoke an argument. I just know that its easy to mentally attach emphasis, tone, and body language to something you read, especially amongst a lively debate. My statement of "not to be a dick or anything" was simply an attempt to negate such from happening. ...and so of course, someon...

Re: Cheap Axe Mask Material?

I've made quite a few tools by hand. Only one was specifically for leather-working, but it's the same principal regardless. Buy an angle-grinder and find some scrap metal. Old saw blades, lawnmower blades... anything like that should be a high enough grade of steel to hold a sharp blade. Then just t...

Re: Do you know a future marauder?

A snow- or rain-storm is extreme weather? A flood that washes out a town would be extreme to me, but the pass closes at least once a winter. Same thing with the wind blowing down trees, snow closing the roads or a rainstorm. (Not to mention that #2 & #5 have nothing to do with weather at all.) One ...

Re: What long arm and handgun are you using to bug out?

Fair enough. Next to like a .50 cal its pretty much the heaviest ammo out there. Two twenty round bandoliers does add a fair little chunk of weight.

Re: Do you know a future marauder?

...Some parts of the world have extreme weather that can do that... 1. Big snowstorm outside & the roads closed? No need to risk freezing or bad roads for food or diapers for the baby, just go open your boxes. 2. Grocery stores being looted? No need to risk getting punched for eggs, bread & milk, j...

Re: What long arm and handgun are you using to bug out?

Eh, I don't have a rifle. That being said, I do plan on acquiring one as soon as finances allow. Still, the only thing that a rifle has that a shotgun doesn't is distance. Beyond a hundred yards its as much luck as anything else with a boom-stick. A scope and rifled barrel helps to a degree but you'...

Re: What long arm and handgun are you using to bug out?

I just put a case of fifty .22s in each of my big cargo pockets and walked around my yard for a bit. It was neither heavy nor bulky enough to restrict my mobility or pull my pants down. I dare say that I could tote around twice that without it becoming a problem. Then again, unlike many in my neighb...

Re: Do you know a future marauder?

Couldn't agree with Mikeyboy more. There aren't really a lot of scenarios (that I can really think of) in which a stash of more than a weeks worth of food could prove lifesaving. It would have to be a scenario where you really just cannot leave your home/shelter for at least a week, probably longer....

Re: Do you know a future marauder?

In my neck of the woods I'm more likely to be besieged by people looking for handouts than anything else. Of course, sooner or later there will be that one slang-talking, no belt-wearing, never worked a real job punk that thinks he's gonna just take what he wants. I got him covered, and his little p...

Re: Do you know a future marauder?

Something worth taking into account here is the difference between Katrina and the great depression. The depression happened over time, consisting of one year after another being worse than the last before things reached their worst. For lack of a better way to put it, people had time to get used to...

Re: Do you know a future marauder?

Well, lets say your in this person's situation. Whatever food you've set aside has either run out, gone bad, turned out to be made of plastic, etc. What are your options? There's going marauder and there's ???? What other options are there? I guess there's a certain degree of scavenging that one cou...

Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)

Got an Alice Pack for $5 at the army surplus store. It was in rough shape but around 40 - 45 minutes worth of TLC and she is good as new. Need a frame for it, but then I might just weld one up from some scrap rebar. All in all, a good find. Or look into the plastic replacement frames so many on thi...

Re: Do you know a future marauder?

"I'm just plain going to have to bug out to a better location." If you do not have specific better location allready set up with shelter food and water you are probably far more likely to turn into a maruder. Your wandering foraging for food and water with makeshift shelter............hmmmm that li...

Why on earth would anyone want a single shot? Is there something integral about it that makes it more accurate or increases the range?

Re: Do you know a future marauder?

I think that this really comes down to the question of: how much prepping is the right amount of prepping? I mean, when food runs out none of us (no not even you) can say for sure that we wouldn't resort to less gentleman-like ways of continuing our survival. So, how much food should one reasonably ...

Re: Zombie Outbreak - Everyone Bug-Out!

As an EMT Id be part of the emergency response. My oldsmobiles isn't ideal, but it'd be enough to get me up the road a mile to a buddy's house. He's also an EMT and has a great big gas guzzler of a truck. Between the two of us and our perspective lady folk, there's enough guns and ammo to see us thr...

Re: What long arm and handgun are you using to bug out?

For me, I only have one long-arm and one sidearm. The sidearm, a .22 single-action 'roughrider' revolver, isn't the most ideal weapon but but it is very accurate and one cargo pocket can hold as much ammo as anyone could need. My long-arm is my boomstick. Its a 12 gauge maverick 88 pump-action shotg...

Greetings... and salutations

Howdy. I hail out of NC. I enjoy long walks on the beach and... oh, wait. Wrong board. I found this sight while looking for information on guns, survival, and porn. Best two out of three, eh? Anyway, looking forward to making all your acquaintances and having some thought provoking discussions.
