Mutants - French Release 2009

Watching on Netflix now. Very good production quality, lighting, effects, character development, etc. It is subtitled.

One of the better Z genre movies I've watched in a while, regardless of the fact I haven't finished it yet!

Re: Snowpocalypse Now

Well if the Snowpocalypse is anything like the Apocalypse, Comcast will be down 2 hours into the storm  No Comcast Cable TV or Internet in lot of Chicago due to the storm.

At least I have redundant DSL! I guess 2 is 1 and 1 really is none!

Re: WIP: Sub-2000 "Sneaky Bag"

I thought the intent was the "I'm just a dude with a laptop bag, like every other person on the street" vs. "I'm lugging around a ton of survival equipment for the ETOWAWKI". Personally, I think the minimalist, "I have more then most on the street to get back to my safe place" is a lot more practica...

Re: Fighting...

I would avoid MMA or BJJ for real world defense I'm puzzled, have you trained BJJ? The basic BJJ fundamentals are built around a combative series of techniques, the same training that many of our armed forces utilize. In BJJ we also train take downs and throws that are lethal enough to end a fight ...

Re: Armageddon Week

Best PAW story I've seen in some time. Sure there were some things done most of use would not do but overall a great show. I was presently surprised to see Michell Bane as a host. I agree, it wasn't perfect although it covered most of what we've discussed here on the board. The initial event, initi...

Re: Armageddon Week

The episode on Tuesday is the most intriguing: After Armageddon Tuesday, January 05 08:00 PM & Wednesday, January 06 12:00 AM What have past acts of destruction taught us about what will happen to mankind after the apocalypse? Is it inevitable that disaster will someday strike America on an unpreced...

Re: "The Road" to hit the screen. Will it translate?

I didn't read the book, so I'm not sure if they address this in the book or not... It seemed like the father knew his health was deteriorating throughout the movie, especially with the coughing and blood in his phlegm. The reason for leaving the bunker would be to get his son to the coast, if that's...

Re: Excercise Gear

A nice set of adjustable dumbbells, a resistance ball, a core ball, a pad and an adjustable bench is all you will need to stay in shape for a very long time. You can do 1000 of exercises, and you'll never need anything powered by electricity.

Re: "The Road" to hit the screen. Will it translate?

Also, another observation. They had 2 bullets when his wife was alive before they hit The Road. Is there a reason they never had an opportunity to re-stock ammo along the way? There were guns in the movie, I assume they came across ammo and other weapons they could have used. Did they ever get into...

Re: "The Road" to hit the screen. Will it translate?

I enjoyed the movie, though I never read the book. The director did a solid job of painting life or the reason to live as bleak and hopeless. The movie has that eerie feeling all the way through. I would have enjoyed a little deeper dive into how they made it day by day and potentially others they c...

Re: oakley bags?

FWIW, Oakley bags are just "meh." In my opinion, they aren't very good quality and don't last that long unless you buy the very top model with all the parachute rigging on it. And then you are starting off on the wrong foot with a bag that weighs half a metric ton empty. You would be better off in ...

Re: Gang Rule in the PAW

Most major cities have gang problems. Crips, Bloods, Latin Kings and others would surely battle over land and resources in the absence of any law enforcement. I'm curious what your thoughts are on how to deal with this kind of threat in the PAW. Evade them? Band together and fight? Join them? I thi...

Re: Gang Rule in the PAW

I think people over estimate the power, strength and courage of gang bangers. The reason why they are powerful in patches in most cities is because LEO's and citizens alike have to play by the rules, which are regulated by lawyers and the criminal justice system, which ultimately works against law e...

It's all a matter of what you are comfortable with and what you can shoot well enough to protect you and yours. Everything from muzzleloaders, to springfields, to shotguns, to more sophisticated weapons like ARs and AKs have been used in war to kill - they all have their advantages and disadvanteges...

Thanks! If you can snag one for $35 I would say that's worth it. I don't know if I'd pay more than that for one. The only catch with the Pack Rat is that it gets pretty full and starts to take on the shape of a soccer ball if you try to load too much in it... I've had one for 2 years, it's goes cam...

Re: The Role of BB guns in the PAW.

A BB gun is a fucking toy... not a firearm. This does not belong in the firearms section. Actually, they can be very valuable in teaching basic marksmanship, along with certain other things like vermin control where a "real" firearm would be overkill. It's still a toy.... not a firearm.... this doe...
