Watched the trailer and it somewhat reminded me of REC.
I'll watch it this weekend.

Re: One Second After
I enjoyed the imaginative scenario of this book. At times it was pretty gripping. I did not like being preached to by the author. He managed to contrive a lesson in his politics/philosophy when he could and I found it pretty lame. Tom Clancy does the same thing and it ruins what could be a good stor...

Firstly, thanks for the updates.
How can they demand a mandatory evacuation when the roads are jammed and there is no way out? Never figured that one out....
I hope you are all dug in deep.

Re: Cuba. Do's. Don'ts. Carry?
Ive been to Cuba a couple of times. Leave all that stuff at home. Carrying a machete around is likely to get you stopped by the police... as it would in Toronto. This is not El Salvador. Cuba is a very safe and friendly place. The standard of living is low thanks to years of embargoes but they do bo...

Re: Price check... Norinco sks plus ammo
In Canada you can buy a Norc SKS for $180. The market has been flooded with them for years. A Russian goes for $225 and a mint Yugo M59 about $350-$400

I like Panic. Its pretty good in a dated sort of way. Note lack of teenagers who argue with dad.

Re: Quitting smoking
Im on a combination of patches and gum. It works like a charm until I get a few pints in me down at the pub. Bad judgment Nick comes out and blam, its smoking time. It really does call for a lifestyle change. Its been three months and I just figure I'll just keep on with the quitting. The 90 packs I...

Great article from the Guardian about single survivors.
Not my personal experience but well worth the read. * News * World news The only ones: Escaping near death What does it feel like to be the only person to survive a plane crash, a boat wreck or an ambush? I really enjoyed it. Good characters who are not really into working together. Just about everyone has an axe to grind.

Re: Educate me - The RobArm XCR
They are popular up here in Canada. Though we get limited shipments they all seem to sell out fast. The XCR will be my next rifle purchase and with the quick interchangeable barrels will definitely become my bug out long arm of choice. I do understand there were some teething troubles at first but t...

This really made me think about a bug out location. just because one can flee from one disaster does not mean there isn't another one that could strike. Reminded me of earthquakes followed by mud slides.

This is a great thread. Especially if you are on a budget with some bug out land to ge to.
My question is how do I keep the water out? There would be not much of a door and I dont really feel like spending time and effort to end up recreating a first world war scenario.

I'm all over these and have booked a "viewing" with a dealer about an hour away. My choice is the "gear up" model. All thats missing is the mount for the Vz59. I'm one of those guys who researches things to death before buying and general opinion is that the quality has improved 200% over the last 5...

Any one determined and not afraid to make noise can get into a common safe in about 15 minutes. I would stay away from any electrically based locks. Keys and combos are just fine.
Spend your money based on size and good construction.
