Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November

NT2C, I told you exactly what I was going to ask in response to Raptor's posting containing the politicized othering term "they". I reported it and you asked me why. At the same time, I was having difficulty posting and you helped me out, knowing exactly what I was going to post, yet now it's irrele...

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November

The videos on the matter are being actively removed and suppressed at many sites. The woman's name has not been released and other than using this matter for political purposes against the other dance team I get the impression that "they" are doing the best "they" can to ensure this is forgotten ne...

Re: Good loaded mag grab & go storage?

Maybe try to find a used but in excellent condition Domke G2 camera bag. They are some of the most reliable heavy duty bags for working journalists who have taken them in into combat and back.

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

I didn't purchase it in the last 48 hours, but received 100 rounds of .30-06 as a surprise yesterday. This package was listed as lost by FedEx last week and I had given up, requesting a refund from the seller. I really need to get setup for reloading this round because retail prices are non sustaina...

.357 magnum with a 4" barrel. :awesome: I prefer the S&W 686. Smooth action, stainless steel, wide variety of ammunition and use. Easily concealed and transported. Novice-friendly with low power charges. If that's not impressive enough you could step it up to .44 in the 629 package. 8-) One of the ...

Re: SHTF and you can only have one gun

Get some slugs and that 12GA can handle just about anything from dove and phesant (with a light birdshot load) to deer and elk. Probably moose and bear as well. Your range is extended with slugs too, so you can still pick off a zombie or an elk much farther out than with your buckshot. We have a 20G...

Re: General Fitness Discussion thread

We have a couple of trainer units that turn our bicycles into stationary trainers. Regularly use those, but not enough. I used to be a bicycle commuter, but now that we're working from home, I have no reason nor motivation to go out. This city is one of the worst for bicycle accidents due to inatten...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

An M1 Garand (pre-1964) muzzle crown die. A NOS K stamped (WWII issue) bolt with bolt shroud and cocking piece. The old bolt face of the M1917 had gotten a bit eroded, almost certainly causing a little extra headspace. I'll be checking the throat soon but with a new bolt, it should close up the gap ...

Re: Press therapy - reloading room *chat*

I've been intending on getting a reloading setup for the last 15 years at aleast. Perhaps this is the year. Since I have my eyes on a .44 lever action to pair with a .44 revolver, reloading only makes sense. That, and the fact that .30-06 is virtually unavailable for less than $2/round these days. B...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

A 5/16" brass lapping tool with a couple little tubs of lapping compound, for the muzzle crown on my .30-06. I really want the proper die to cut a few thousandths of an inch off of the crown and remove some of the surface pitting that the rifle has suffered over the last 102 years. I may just buff i...

Re: "Boring" but necessary

Supposedly ATF works as a good carbon cleaner and pretty good lubricant. I use a few ounces of it once a year in the injection pump of my 1972 Benz diesel and the elements and rack are always shiny after running that stuff for a while.

"Boring" but necessary

We all love the talk of stocking up on ammunition, magazines, back up firearms, back ups for our back ups, caches, etc, ad nauseum. How many of us stock up on and maintain a supply of the "boring" wear items? I recently basically built a "new" .30-06 Winchester Model of 1917, and in so doing I found...

Did you ever find out anything about the ammunition?
No. I cleared the rounds and dropped them into a bucket of sand and went on with life. I'm sure our GMs took care of them.

Re: How many mags do you consider "enough" for each gun?

Have you ever had a bad round from a quality brand? I've personally never had a 9mm not go bang, even the cheapest of crap or 10 year old defense ammo. Twice while I was in the Navy, I had 9mm ball ammo fail to fire. Once in February, 2001. The second time in September, 2004. First time was on the ...

Re: Shooting in Philadelphia UPDATE

Several hours ago, Philadelphia PD and the office of the Mayor released the full audio and video footage of the shooting of Walter Wallace.
There are reports of a few scattered incidents of protesting but it is not the widespread protesting and rioting we saw a week ago.

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November

Well, the prediction for a contested election seems to be likely. It's very odd how many large cities in battleground states have been delaying returns, which increases the chance for legal challenges to the reported results. If anything that seems to be good, as a contested election seems less lik...

How many mags for each gun do you consider adequate?
50-ish loaded stripper clips for my .30-06, and 6 boxes of 0000 shot and 2 boxes of #8 for the 20 GA. It's what we have, so it has to be adequate.

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Installed a Timney trigger in the 1917 "American Enfield". Also "floated" the barrel from receiver out to the bayonet lug/barrel band. This is supposed to allow the barrel to vibrate and still retain <2MOA. I'm hoping with the proper furniture that is now properly bedded, I can still reach out and t...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

Back when I was still in the Navy, I walked into a gun store, bought a .17HMR rifle with a scope and walked out. It was remarkably quick, and it was also in California, so I'm sure the background check went through. They didn't have the access to check my clearance which would preclude the backgroun...

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November

Here in Philadelphia, the NG is posted all over center city. One scenario that hasn't really been mentioned is along the lines of the Kent State shooting in 1970, with the exception that Philadelphia would immediately explode in riots and we'll be bugging out ASAP.

The latest from City Prepper:

Does this man seem reasonable to you?
For the most part, I suppose so. I don't think there will much unrest about the election itself or the results unless a bona fide coup takes place, and civil liberties are severely curtailed.
