Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Yesterday I went for a 4 mile walk. 57 minutes. 35 lbs on my back. Ice was treacherous. On a program to get weights up and get distance up. Just in case bugging out needs to be on foot. Hopefully that never happens. :)

Re: Ice fishing sshelter for long term camping

Where would be a good place (IYO) to get one? Are these shelters any good on the sec. market, or not? I"m not an "expert" by any means, but my fist choice would be to look on Craig's List near the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. While probably more expensive, Bass Pro is in Council Bluffs, Mill's ...

... Fiat 500 is just an apocalyptically bad apocalypse vehicle... while the big disaster may come and I may need something better then, the 365 days of the years until then, there's been nothing better. I just ALSO need a Jeep. :D ) This, I think, is an important consideration. We imagine a disaste...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

I haven't bought Glock mags in a while, been thinking about stocking a couple extras. Anyone trusting Magpul Glock mags 100% these days? Last time I was really paying attention these were new on the scene and the general consensus seemed to be "great for range use, OEM to trust with my life". Still...

Re: Doomsday Clock: 100 seconds

I highly criticise this clock now. It really doesn't make any sense to me anymore except as a tool to try and get people listening and scared. So I ask myself: is the electrical grid up? Is anyone shooting at me today? No? Then life is ok and I'll keep up with my preparations. I feel like this is a ...

Some of the best info I have seen on hog hunting ammo, and I feel good hog rounds are good self defense rounds.

Re: Will Prepping Get a Second Wind in 2020?

The difference for me between forums and youtube is the comments. On a forum you can see things get vetted. Opinions and recommendations. And you can tie those to members with high post counts. That lead to some legitimacy to the post. Not to mention asshats get bumped from forums. Not the case wit...

Re: Will Prepping Get a Second Wind in 2020?

I for one would be really sad if this forum died. I was late to the party to start with and have really enjoyed this place. Woods Walker dieing has really brought it home to me that we all need to chip in a little more in order to keep this thing going. I, for one, have been looking for opportuniti...

Re: Stay in city or attempt the wilderness?

As I"m thinking things through, I"m hitting some walls. 1) There is some degeneration of "liberals" here, and the way I'm hearing it is they are equivalent to "community oriented" and "unprepared goofs." On this forum there are a number of people who are "liberal" and a number who are "conservative....

Re: Stay in city or attempt the wilderness?

I'll try to put more thought into this later, but I think heading for the hills and hanging out with the successful tree dwellers would work out, until it doesn't. At which point you head out. Basically, I'd want to be as deep as possible up in the hills on one of those streams and if the campers ca...

I got to go to a regional church security conference today. Different faiths were invited, but only Christians showed up. One theme which came up at this conference and the other conference I attended was the need to deal with gaps in the Continuum of Force. Specifically, most security teams have "c...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

There have been a number of thefts of large quantities of explosives lately and it making law enforcement nervous. This is too bad. Is there any ability to share whether military or civilian explosives? I'm just vulgerly curious. No real prepping reason. I don't expect the source of explosives woul...

So, please tell us, what got you into prepping? And what do you currently prep for? Do you currently have a self-sufficient living plot? Or are you working towards that?

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

I don't think we will ever see a civil-war in our lifetime in this country. And my reason is quite simple: Air conditioning. I think you have some good arguments. However, one does not need to destroy air conditioning or cellular access to prosecute a civil war. One only needs people willing to lea...

Yeah, she has some kick. Plus ammo is about 3 bucks a round. However, it hits with around 4000 pounds of energy.
For those days you need to stop a truck in it's tracks ;)

I have a friend who loves his .375. He loves the kick and boom.

I admit it, I'm a life-long Ruger fanboy.
