Re: Bow vs air rifle for shtf/prepping?

Aside from the above, it depends on if you have physical limits which prevent you from using a bow. Where I grew up, a crossbow could only be used by people with physical disabilities. Some things you might have added are black powder guns and crossbows. Between bows and air guns, I prefer air guns....

Nebraska, is not pushing masks. I think we are 1 out of 2 states which are not experiencing rising cases. Last I saw (4 days ago?).

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

I had kind of a troubling insight yesterday. Throughout the pandemic, my wife and I have been doing the majority of our shopping at Costco. We would only go every two or three weeks, we wore masks, shopped at quieter hours to help maintain 6 feet from others and we tried not to linger. We also pick...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I’ve been out of the reloading game for about a year (moving and working on property) I went to check a few sites fora friend who’s getting into reloading and prices for bullets seems to have sky rocketed. Couldn’t even find cheap pulled bullets for plinking anywhere. Has something changed? another...

Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

Went uo to check things out yesterday, the area is completely off limits, cops are not allowing anyone in without ID, you don’t live there you are not allowed to even walk on the streets. In fact cops will escort you to and from your building outside the exclusionary zones While up there a group of...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

I actually posted my ammo comment in the wrong thread, I meant to post in Firearms Chat. But since I posted here, I'll add: I got 40 rnds of Sig M17/9mm 124gr, +P HP. And I got 100 rnds of practice ammo. I'd like to have got more of each, but store purchase limits are a double edged sword and cut bo...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

Just something I've noticed a few places over the last few days:

It seems ammo prices in brick and mortar stores are better than online prices, though the selection and quantities available online are both better than in stores.

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

Just wanted to mention that ninjas who work in the summer have my respect. It's hard to be secretive while hiding in the corner of a ceiling while your sweat drips down onto your target and the tatami mats located a few feet underneath you. I guess that's why the ninja turtles also had headbands. :...

Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

Local news sources are now reporting that security forces have retaken control of rebel held areas. In a show of force they are closing businesses (including those who filed lawsuits against CHOP) by not allowing anyone into the “secured area” local news teams that were on scene during the 3rd wave...

Re: Best AK Chest Rig

My first choices for the AK are the Chinese 4 cell or 3 cell mag pouches. Otherwise, a slick MOLLE chest rig and get your preferred pouches. I've heard good stuff about VooDoo Tactical. But I have no experience. I do like the closures on their 7 pocket/3 cell mag pouch. I can vouch for the Chinese s...

Re: There are No Rules in a Gunfight

It might be helpful to look up the experiences of farmers in South Africa and those who wish to kill them. And if you look around the world currently and look at history you will find South Africa is not the only place people have had these experiences. True. And based on events of the past few yea...

Re: There are No Rules in a Gunfight

I was thinking along the lines of put a couple of bullets their way and then just leave. Or hide and call the cops. I assume every time you stick your head out to shoot you can get shot. And every second longer your head is out you can get shot. So say you get in to a Mexican stand off and you eith...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

Slide wracking is tough too, but my current CCW came with steel Vickers sights, so belt wracking is an option. Just need to not shoot my leg. Also, I'm under a regional pain blocker at the moment. Once that wears off at 0130 tomorrow, I'll take my other pain meds. I might find I should not be opera...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

Just FYI, I expect parts of the US will shift to a South African model of de-funded public police and a robust private security sector which guards the rich and culls the cream of the Public Police crop with better pay, better benefits, and better working conditions. Just my personal opinion, but I...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

Bottom line takeaway from all this? It's best if you don't live near any political figure or celebrity because one day you might find yourself sitting on the edge of "ground zero" of a mob's attention. If you do find yourself sitting there, don't make yourself a secondary target. Let "sit down, shu...

Well, just got surgery on my hand, so time to use the non-dominant hand for shooting for the next 2 weeks or more likely, 2 months. Thank goodness for pistols. I'd sure like an arm brace right now, but oh well. Good luck, it always feels weird. You may need to adjust your sights as well. I find tha...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

One can hope! That's the main reason I keep a .40 cal around, for those times that cheap police and alphabet agency surplus ammo hits the market. And agencies have been stocking up in record numbers in recent years, it would be nice for shooters if police get defunded and have to sell some of that ...

[edit] Also, I wanted to add that a reasonable person could debate whether a government official reading off the names and addresses of people who criticized her proposed ...
