Re: Long Term Vehicle Storage -A lesson in Vehicle Unprepard

I've bought and sold a ton of cars in the past 15 years or so. One in particular has always stood out in my memory.. 3 times is has sat for @2yrs at a time and started with a jump. I think before the 2nd stint it did have the tank drained and a few gallons of gas dumped in with a can of seafoam (try...

Re: High quality float charger?

The CTEK chargers are the same thing that are (or were) supplied with new Corvettes. That's what I'll be wiring into my vehicles when I get to that point of my modifications. (not because they came with Corvettes, but because they are good enough that a major manufacturer decided they were quality e...

Re: Concealed Carry: BUGs vs Mags

Here is an interesting article on the number of rounds: http://www.policeone.com/police-heroes/articles/6199620-Why-one-cop-carries-145-rounds-of-ammo-on-the-job/ I don't carry a back up gun. That's exactly what came to mind when I read the OP. But for me it's a S&W Shield .40 at 4 o'clock for time...

Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)

I bought a box full of Rothco stuff to try out/evaluate for myself. Multicam Plate Carrier Datrex "Blue" rations XMREs.. 1 of each flavor to try. 1 case of the "complete" MRE that come with Heaters. one of their inexpensive compasses.. figured my daughter would get a kick out of it. Multicam Boonie ...

Re: Bump in the night armor

There are 3 websites that I've run across with a wealth of info and products... Ar500armor.com CATIarmor.com bulletproofme.com Personally, I'd look for something with the most rapid deployment option possible. I am in no way formally trained, but just from what you've said, that would be my biggest ...

Re: The Dead at Destitute Mountain

I think I found a pic of Goodnight house.. before it was destroyed. At least this is how I picture it, although this one is way smaller and sans garage. http://media.boingboing.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/TH_70-image.jpg Not really how I pictured it but that is friggin' cool! Great idea for a pl...

Re: Congrats, you just won the lottery!

with only a quick search.. I'd pick this up. The requisite self sustaining house would follow along with some motorized toys to allow policing of the property. Since I like to tinker on vehicles, there would be a fully equipped shop as well. anything else, I'd do has already been covered many times ...

Re: Lack of lead.

The "tin foil hat guy" in me says this is another way to limit the possible resistance to the government. Basically, as you say, eventually the lead supply will be exhausted. This will leave only imported lead (whether raw or already cast) as the only option. Since that (imported goods) is tightly r...

glad to hear you made it.. I think about this often with my wife (and usually 6yo daughter in tow). She has taken the classes for CCW, but has yet to get the paperwork turned in to the Sheriff in order to get the endorsement. She called me the other day to ask if I'd be home soon since she pulled up...

XD40 compact, 16"AR or Mossberg 500 Thunder Ranch edition. Wifey would be holstered with Walther P22 and slung with scoped 10/22. That's if I owned any firearms...

and that's why I've been wanting to try out my idea of magnetic bearings.. using a combination of collars and flanges with neodymium magnets arranged in opposing poles to create an air gap. unfortunately, the number/strength magnets I'd need are quite pricey. :gonk:

I've been looking at those milsurp rocket cans at the local spot for while now. thinking that it could be a great stash can for a firearm and such.. I guess I was right.
