Re: Any Newbies Here Because of Coronavirus?
Like others, not a newbie just haven't been on the site in a while. I was always a lurker anyway. Didn't take a break from preparing though. Just thought I'd drop in here to see if there are tips and information that could be helpful. In the recent years my parents purchased a homestead in the PNW. ...

Re: Mostly a question for the ladies. Purse or backpack?
I usually carry a purse - or more accurately something like a hobo or a tote. But about 5 years ago I needed something bigger and sturdier for holding my laptop and essentials when doing field work and I settled on a bag called Pico2 from Etsy (idk if I'm breaking a rule here, I get nothing from sug...

Re: Bug Juice
Everytime I've seen a cow I always think, "Who was the first guy to look at that and decide to have a drink?"
So, yeah I don't see bug juice as being any weirder than bovine juice. Variety being the spice of life and all that
The crystal form is what's interesting though.

Re: Download Wikipedia for offline use: XOWA
This is pretty neat. I can't check right now but I'm wondering if there is a way to sort by category. I remember reading before that like 90% of Wikipedia articles are about arts/culture, biographies, histories and events. While these can be very interesting I'm not sure a lot of that is very useful...

Better late than never introduction
I just realized I never did an intro! I've been a lurker on this site for a long time and signed up a while ago but haven't posted much. I'm from the PNW but currently live in California. Also spending a lot of time in Canada because my other half lives there for the moment. I've been a casual prepp...

Re: Why Prepper Girls Need to Stock up on Underwear
+1 for the silicon cups. There are a greater selection of them around now. I was discouraged at first by a not great result with a Diva Cup. My Gyno recommended the FemmyCycle and I haven't looked back since. I'd definitely suggest trying out what you can until you find what works best for you. But ...

Re: Worst places to be when TSHTF
I currently live in the Bay Area and am counting the days until we move back to the PNW. Despite having a veggie garden and solar power and my preps, I don't feel like this would be a great place. My long term preps aren't here and I don't know the area that well. Water would be an issue after about...

Re: Bugging Out to Wal-Mart, Costco, Sams Club: No!
Maybe this has been mentioned but I only managed to read about 15 of the 50 or so pages in this thread  . But the weakest thing about the superstore plan, especially a Wal-Mart one, that I always thought was that they don't really have *that* much food. Sure for a small family or group it would...

Just wanted to +1 to loving this story. I haven't been able to step away, I read it all in one sitting and am super eager for more. Really great writing and characters, TB. Please keep it up! Also, I love that this new addition is cause for the first time we've seen Lucas's calm and cool demeanor ri...

Re: Wash day: Making my own laundry soap. *Picture Heavy*
I read through most of the thread but if I missed this being mentioned, my bad. But, if you are still having trouble finding washing soda you can make your own out of baking soda. Heat oven to 400 F. Spread out your 1-2 cups of baking soda into a baking sheet, pop into oven for 30 minutes. Stir it a...

Re: Dry pet food prep
My dog has food allergies. My cat is finicky (surprise). Both of their foods have had shortages and were nearly impossible to find at times so I now stock up. They come in resealable bags with a stated 15 month shelf life. I leave them in the bag, but place the bags in 5 gallon buckets - this mainly...
