Re: Small engine repair
What brand is the engine? JD uses different engines. If it's a Briggs, then there are three or four different manuals that it might be, based on it being a twin cylinder. https://shop.briggsandstratton.com/us/e ... ir-manuals

Re: Small engine repair
Can you guys recommend a book/website/YouTube series to learn about small engine repair? I never learned growing up and my kid and I want to fix our riding mower. It's been through two carburetors and the shop guys keep telling me they gum up and go bad because of the ethanol in gas these days, but...

Re: My Sidearm Choice - The CZ 75!
Can anyone recommend a bigger safety for a pre-B model Cz-75? I'd like something easier to disengage in a high stress situation. The stock safety is a little small, and slippery. Also interested in wood grips instead of the stock plastic. Having the stocker built up via welding is the only option I...

Re: 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 advice
I know this is an old thread but..... Well it depends. Are you gonna need this to go offroad sort of like a second fun car or are you gonna use it as a daily driver? If it is for offroad pretty much all the time and the price isn't bad go for it. As things break down (and they will) you can replace ...

Re: Minimalist recovery kit for an Awd crossover.
I have used come alongs for vehicle recovery...and I've used a hi lift jack as a winch. Frankly, both suck, but the hi lift sucks a whole lot less. The major downside to using a high lift is similar to that of a come along, being that if you have to pull very far, you will have to reset frequently. ...

Re: sks for a mini 14???
I'd keep the SKS. I have several and also have a mini thirty. If the mini hadn't been free, I wouldn't own one. I can't think of a good reason to buy or trade for one. Factory mags are expensive, most aftermarket mags don't function, and lots of parts can't be bought except from ruger(and then only ...

BOB, hiking, etc.. She probably won't be willing to spend more than $400 or so, although she was talking about having one custom made, so she might be willing to spend more than I think.Ragged wrote:What's she going to use it for and what is your budget range?

Need a new pack for the wife, 14.5 inch torso length
My wife is short, like 4'6" short and we can't seem to find a good pack to fit her. She really likes my eberlestock G4, so I tried fitting it to her and found that there wasn't enough adjustment to do so. I emailed them and asked about whether the short harness would give enough adjustment. They did...

Re: Flea Market Axe Find - Help!
If the handle is cracked to find yourself a nice handle for it. If its dull then get a nice file (not one of those cheap Chinese made files), work a nice edge on it. Then use a whet stone perhaps medium grit and work it down then use a fine grit and you should be good. as for the rust that's not go...

Nope. No use for the cartridge and I'm not a glock fan either.

Re: Marlin 1894 .44mag Lever Gun?
By "slightly used", is it one of the older ones that was made when Marlin was in Connecticut, or the newer ones since they moved their HQ to North Carolina? My "made in Conneticut" Marlins are fine rifles, but a lot of people have been complaining about the quality of the newer ones made in NY or K...

Re: Marlin 1894 .44mag Lever Gun?
A cousin of mine has one, my wife has a .357 version. The .44 model is a little more bulky. Good gun for certain uses. If the price is right, I'd probably buy it. I came close to buying a used 45 colt version a while back.

Re: .410 self defense shotgun ?
410 makes a fine SD gun. couple it with a Taurus judge and not only will you have a long gun but a shot as well that fire the same ammo. 410 ammo is cheap= buy more, lite =more you can carry, and versitile = more uses (ie hunting, SD, practice, ect) With ammo such as 00 buck, PDX, Hornady (NEW TO T...

I'm a machinist and I can weld, among other things. I'm also willing to show up at the hiring desk every morning when the place opens to see if a job is available, and I'm not afraid to actually work. I should be able to find a job pretty much anywhere in the world.

Re: Yaesu FT-60 (just bought)
I advise against the SMA-BNC adapters. They simply give too much leverage and make it real easy to snap that SMA connector right off the radio. Anything other than an SMA antenna (and even some of those can be a problem) that connects to that SMA needs to have some flex and "give" to it. This is wh...

I'd be game, but I haven't even powered up my TS450. Going to pick up a few more bits to build an antenna today.

Re: Yaesu FT-60 (just bought)
Guy behind the counter lied his ass off. The FT-60 is, in no way, shape or form, "waterproof" or even water resistant. Yep, that's the one downside to the 60. I have one and it's been a good radio. Replace the factory rubber duck antenna with an aftermarket antenna. You can get an SMA to BNC adapte...

Re: Looking for pro/con 9mm vs. .45
I've got both. Either one will work with a good bullet, put in the right place. 9 gets you more capacity and less recoil, and with some ammo is right on the heels of my much loved .357 magnum. .45 isn't going to get any smaller, but the capacity is less and it's more expensive. There are also times ...

Re: Why is the Striker Block Making 9c have two resets?
My guess is a burr, dirt, or something similar interfering with the mechanism. That said, I've never had one apart in my hands, so I may not even be on the right track.

Just wish I had more ammo. Yeah, I'd buy up as much M2 ball as I could afford. At least that shouldn't be under a panic.
