Re: Day by Day Armageddon & Day by Day Armageddon: Beyond Ex

I have to say I liked the twist and change of the basic scope of the story. This is a great mix of zombie/techno thriller. I loved to see the transition from zombies as the main threat to zombies treated as just another environmental concern rather than the main protagonist. I will always be more sc...

Re: What If 7.62x39 Is Not Available?

Well that’s a good point. I have an SKS in 7.62x39. It’s a good all around shooter and I have some 7.62 that I bought in bulk to feed it. On the other hand, my more regular shooters (although I haven't been home to shoot in over two years) are two AR-15 in 5.56 and an AK (SLR-106FR) in 5.56. I like ...

Re: back on board

So yeah he's still here. And as creepy as ever. I don't know about his food but his gig now is that he is the dude that puts together our unit Yearbooks. Anyways, even my driver gets the willies from him.

Re: Rawles' new book

I plan on buying and I read his blog regularly. I was happy to see that he is up in the top ten on Amazon this week. There has been a lot of criticism about Patriots, sure it could have been better, but you know what he did something that most people ever do in life and that’s finish what they start...

back on board

Back after adding a few stops to my world tour. I am now in Korea and enjoying copious amounts of Kimchi, Samgyeopsal 삼겹살 and Kalbi 갈비. The best thing about this country is the food. Having said that its starting to get cold and it gets really really cold here. Anyways I just thought I would re-intr...

Harmony Church is gone but they saved the old chapel and moved it to the new infantry museum. Of note they are doing all kinds of new construction out in that AO.

Benning is growing by leaps and bounds but there are going to be a lot of problems associated with it.

Shooting is a perishable skill and one class without continued training is useless, I don't give a crap how intense it is.
This is one of the more salient points I've seen in here, believe this.

I think that a light and a laser have a place on a carbine. Especially if you are fighting in an urban area (they help in the woods too.) I will also say that you need to use them wisely. I would only consider an IR laser as I feel that I get better results with a red dot at night than a laser. I al...

I just finished a two week long flat range/live-fire CQC class with the Asymmetric warfare group. It never hurts to learn from some of the best guys to wear the uniform. This class has tipped me in favor of the Eotech over the Aimpoint. The one MOA dot on the Eotech makes it much easier to do a 200m...

Wow ... thanks for digging this up after almost a year. But it's good I guess because I have a new LBT aid bag to use a primary and I can get the smaller Emdom bag as a more specialized kit. Hmmm, I wonder if there are any good ideas on the throw down thread? I promise to update ... but it might not...

Life After People

I can't believe that I am the first one to latch on to this. I watched it tonight and it's pretty fascinating. Creepy, just something that we would never see other wise. It should be on again later in the week. One thing of note was the use of Prypiat, Ukraine. Just having played Call of Duty 4 it w...

I am inspired to get into the action. I am totally going to get one of my medics in here and rebuild the Aid bag. And then I'm going to have him restock all my CLS bags (5) and then I'm going to have him make a list of all the class 8 we are short of and then ... I love having my pick of medics who ...

Hes combat arms, not a loggie. Thats like asking a rocket scientist if he can remove an appendix, or build a house. It's just a completely different skill set. A combat arms major fills out reqs to make his TO&E complete, and the equipment just shows up. Thats his role in the logistics and procurem...

Well the XM8 while based on the HK G36 was being offered by GDLS which is an American company. If they decided to compete just for a piston upper exchange most of the companies available for that would be US with HK and POF being the exceptions. As far as the train up being an issue I think you woul...

I don't know if the system is broken so much as there is so much institutional stubbornness that it’s impossible to get any major weapons systems upgraded on a regular basis. No I know that we have good programs coming out of PEO-Soldier but when it comes to weapons there has to be a better way. Bei...

I agree with much of what you all said. As a user of government M4s I especially agree with "I love my M4, it works for me." But the way I read many of your arguments are that this all comes down to which gun is better, AK vs. AR, Piston vs. DI and so forth. I could careless about all of that becaus...
