Re: Range Day Fort Worth

Wrangler and I finally got a range visit done. We met at Lone Star Guns Gear and Gallery in Weatherford last Thursday night for some indoor blasting. Nice facility for an indoor range. Prices seemed reasonable. The staff, while being young folks, were very polite, helpful and knowledgeable.

Re: New AK-74M to make debut in May 9 Victory Day parade

They also said they would start making AK's in the US, so maybe they are stepping up their game all-around. Who says an upen market doesn't result in better products for a lower cost? My understanding is that it isn't actually KC making AKs in the US, it's the former importer who is just using the ...

Re: Threaded 9mm Semi Auto Pistol..... HELP!

Yep, I'm with crypto. Don't choose the gun based on who offers a factory threaded barrel. Just buy a threaded barrel for your chosen handgun. And when you buy your can, make sure it's equipped with a LID (linear inertial device) if your pistol uses the Browning tilt-lock system. Companies I currentl...

Re: When TV shows and movies get it wrong

These may be a bit subtle, but the ones that really drive me up the wall are Walking Dead scenes where we are repeatedly shown the following: - Rick sticks out his beautifully pristine Python, supposedly aiming it at someone/thing, and it's obvious that he's actually pointing it at the ground and ca...

Re: Boots vs Shoes

I live and work in a rural environment. I've tried shoes but had bad luck. I invariably get mesquite and cactus thorns in my socks when wearing shoes. When it's rainy or damp from a heavy dew, my socks would get soaked through my pant legs. And I get a lot more chigger and fire ant bites when wearin...

.....(Do I need the faster twist rate for 40-42 grain subs? Or is that mostly for the 60 grain sss aguilas) But then, given the 22 market, subs aren't always easy to find, or way over priced Could I run the typical bulk stuff through the faster twist rate, or am I going to run into issues? Thoughts...

Re: Firearm Categories

Given that you already have a bolt action rifle in .223, I'd say the only substantial hole I see is a 5.56mm fighting rifle. Likely a 16" barrel AR would fill the bill best for me if I were in your situation. I say that because it's likely the most common rifle of that type in your AO and thus would...

Re: Combat shotgun sights - Bead or Ghost Ring?

It may not be in their catalog yet, but XS offers express sights for shotguns. I've been using them on my Benelli M1 and M2 for 3-gun for years. I too am suffering from "ole guy's eyes" and was afraid they might not work on short barrels. But I have them on 18" Benelli and 870 barrels, and they work...

I DO have a use for one...and I want one bad.

I have almost a dozen soaking wet brush piles averaging 12 feet tall and covering about 500-800 square feet each, that I need to burn in the next few weeks. I REALLY NEED one of these.

Wish they were available now...

Re: Firearm Categories

I think I might understand where Clarence is going. So based on what I think you're asking, I break my collection into the following categories: Self-defense (working guns) - semi-auto pistols (service-size and compacts), compact revolvers (snubbies), semi-auto rifles (AR15s), and short-ish shotguns...

Re: AR-15 vs AR-10?

...But the AR-10 seems to only come in one caliber... This part is not true, just FYI. You can put together an AR10 in any of the calibers that are based on the .308 case head and length. So .243, .260, 7mm-08 or .338 Federal are all off-the-shelf options. You just have to obtain the barrel chamber...

Re: A rifle/carbine mounted weapon light thread

I'm a big fan of the Inforce WML, both the original and the newer 500 lumen versions. I like them mounted at 12 o'clock, in front of the front sight. Totally ambidextrous as it can be operated equally well with the thumb of right or left hand on the hand guard. Of course, it doesn't work that way if...

I'm starting to lust after Philippine bladed weapons. Seriously considering at least one blade from TFW when discretionary money becomes more available. One of these:

Pinute

Visayan Barong

or an Itak Tagalog

And I have been craving an Albion Soldat since they were first released.
