Re: Press therapy - reloading room *chat*
Woof. It's been a while since I've been on. I just finished my reloading bench(well, the bench part anyways, still need shelves) in my basement and have moved everything in. So much better than being in the unheated garage. Also means I'm going to spend more money because I'll be reloading more ofte...

Re: Reloading - things I wish I knew before.
I wonder if having a C&R would also get you a discount for gun parts from Brownell's??? Back in like 2007 when I was gathering parts for my first AR, my buddy had a gunsmithing discount through Brownell's (even though he didn't actually have a legit gunsmithing business). So he got 10% off. Then at...

Re: Reloading - things I wish I knew before.
Yep, I still have brass left from my single stage days. I use GI surplus .30 cal ammo cans to store them. I write on the ends of them with a piece of chalk or a printed out label what they contain: ".45 ACP, cleaned, belled, re-primed" "9mm, deprimed" One of these days, I will have to see if they w...

Made a small score today. Found a guy on craigslist selling 70 lbs of clean lead, a melting pot and ladle. I'm just getting into casting(been compiling lead when i find it at a good price), so i figure it's a decent score for $60. I've actually been looking for a longer ladle for smelting, so i thin...

Re: Reloading - things I wish I knew before.
This is more for Single Stage guys, but it applies to almost everybody. Keep Brass in various stages of prep. I find it a lot less overwhelming when i have brass available for whatever step i feel like doing that particular day, as opposed to having to do 50 or 100 from scratch all the way up to the...

Sleeping pad-I used to have a Thermarest basecamp, but now I'm torn about replacing it. Do I keep it cheap and small in case I get a rucksack and start backpacking again, go mid-range with another wider pad, or not bother and save that money for a fancy air mattress I'd go either air matrress or wi...

I'm going to guess it was military brass with crimped primer pockets. I've dealt with some of that in the past, but with .30-06 cases. After you get the brass sized and the old primer out, it helps a lot to ream out the primer pocket so you can get the next primer in without fighting it. Yeah, it w...

Re: Press therapy - reloading room *chat*
My .223 dies arrived on Thursday, so i decided to break into my stash of brass and start prepping. Sized and reamed about 600 pieces of .223/5.56 this weekend. HOLY GOD reaming is tedious. It went by reasonably quickly. Threw the bit into my drill and went to town while watching a Futurama marathon....

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
I'd go trigger first. The Bushnell TRS-25 is actually a really solid red dot for the money. I also think the trigger will improve your groups quite a bit, and you will be able to spend your range time working on getting used to that trigger. A scope takes seconds to get used to(for me anyways), wher...

An 16" 300 Blackout barrel(pistol length, cuz i wanna shoot da subs with a can someday) made by AAC w/ a gas block for $129. I wasn't planning on getting it(I'm slow building the upper), but that was too crazy a deal not to pick up.
Got a stripped upper from Primary Arms a few days earlier for $39.

7-08 is harder to find than other 7mm cartridges out there(at least around me), but it's not impossible to find. If you have any big box hunting stores around you, you'll be fine. If you reload, you'll be golden. I think the price is ok(not great, not bad either). If you can talk them down a little ...

Look into the new Canik TP9-SA. Just saw a video on it, and i think i might pick one up. MSRP of $399. I think they greatly improved on the TP9. Loaded Chamber indicator, it takes standard Beretta mags, steel sights, ect. I watched 2 reviews on Youtube that both agreed that while Beretta mags will ...

Okay, a while ago I picked up a couple poly lowers cheap. Obviously, they're not going to be as durable as alloy lowers, but for occasional use 5.56 range toy, would I be better off with or without a buttstock? I'm debating between the support provided by my shoulder to hold the buffer tube forward...

So at work the other night, I pieced together some parts kits from online to see roughly what I would be paying in comparison to a new rifle... at today's prices, of course: Here are my potential builds: Spikes stripped lower + FFL transfer fee = $130 Magpul PTAC lower kit from PSA = $130 PSA premi...

I'm bumping this thread because I was looking for a new sling and notice Ares Armour has their Husky sling on sale (as of right now). http://aresarmor.com/store/Item/aahuskey2pt If you need a sling, it's a decent one. Your long-arms should have a sling. I'm a huge fan of this sling. Lots of guys he...

Would 40 bucks be too much for an Anderson Manufacturing AR-15 stripped lower ? I ask because AIM Surplus has some right now for about that and I'm not sure if the maker is good or why the lowers are 40 bucks. If I recall...most lowers are the same...if its 40 bucks...buy three lol Dammit chimp now...

On the general topic of portable power generation: The original post was really about power needs for a get home bag. Some of you are very much into the idea of having power generation for longer trips (2-6 days). This has lead many of you to solar power generators. I would strongly suggest some of...

I'd been buying it by the 500 (wolf) shipping was $15 and at $120 or whatever I could talk myself into it easier than I used to talk myself into ~250 with shipping. I end up buying more often. I know it isn't any different. I'm waiting for black friday. I have to imagine ammo will be stupid cheap(w...

I am envious of you guys that can walk past thousands of rounds of 22LR on the shelf. It's still not common at all here. I did stop at a small gun store last week and he had one box of 100 and one box of 50 and a few ziplock bags of 50 that he must have made out of a brick or bucket. I bought the 1...
