Re: Heavy duty space blankets, yay or nay?

Yay! Good idea for sure. I have a store bought heavy duty one in my BOB as well as a few of the flimsy cheap ones glued to painters plastic drop clothes (with spray adhesive) to rugged-ize them a bit, but mostly to make them "1st surface space blankets". Warning science content. Of interest about me...

Re: Lasers

As long as the zombies did not start wearing mirrored sunglasses I think lasers could work. "Long term bugout with zombie eyeball lasering capability." Has a certain ring to it. And it would save ammo. Many think that if they cannot see you they just walk in circles and you can quietly pass by. The ...

Nothing to do really. "ITS" going to happen. How to ride the storm out is the question ZS addresses.
I like to assume I'll make it with on the spot heroic adjustments. Right. But hey...anyone can get lucky.

I think being geared up to be self sufficient on the day when no more water comes out of the faucet is a worthy goal. One idea with promise is Atmospheric Water Condensers. Run on solar panels and you suddenly have the freedom to bug out to the wasteland. Minimizing the chance encounter with zombies...

Is my take wrong that distillation would indeed provide clean water because the chemical contaminant had a higher evaporation temperature than water? Sort of the reverse of alcohol mash distillation temperatures. A stone simple distillation setup youtube where you place very large pan on the stove (...

Re: cooking in the can, safe or unsafe

Food inside a can is most likely already cooked. No need to cook it twice. But warm food is nice. One legit reason you may be tempted to place the food can into a fire is if it is frozen solid. Resist if you can. Set it close until it melts. Best if you find or make a larger container and submerge t...

Re: Charcoal stove expriment

Running out of charcoal as would happen in the ZPAW for this stove type is a problem to overcome. We've all probably seen those biomass briquette makers - press a sludge of sawdust + shredded paper + leaves in solid fuel briquettes that need to dry before burning. These work fine for applications wh...

Sounds like bad booze but could be food poisoning. They do things a little differently there and usually know how to process food quickly without refrigeration. Lots of what we call micro breweries exist and possibly some bacteria beside the yeast gained dominance in a batch. http://i57.tinypic.com/...

I detect a business opportunity here. Sell after market kits for a "zombie kill switch" on the dash board
that will disable the self braking feature.

Illuminated toggle switch an important feature due to the prevalence of night time zombie attacks.

A general 'volcano causing another disaster' thread may be an idea. With world wide news coverage it seems we get some prime examples of people dealing as best they can. Like improvising a front door as a shield from falling lava bombs as they hike to safety. Some youtubes of the Dec 2014 Fogo Volca...

Someone explained to me that its a case of 'time on target' for the sugar, salt water mix because it comes out of the body almost as fast as it is drunk down when a patient has killer diarrhea and vomiting.
