Re: Does anyone use a safari/sportsmans style vest?

I shot somebody a couple weeks ago for wearing one. He was axing for it.

The vest is not inconspicuous anymore; it stands out because it's not common and draws attention because of that. People may not all automatically think "gun", but they do think "geek".

Re: Does anyone use a safari/sportsmans style vest?

Concealed Carry Vests are COMFORTABLE AND FASHIONABLE.
They're lying. Vests say "I have a gun, shoot me first!"

Re: Tactical Nylon/Gear Chat

Ok new question, how well would the ATS MCH hydration carrier work with just a 70oz bladder versus a full 100oz one? I didn't see this until just now, catching up on this thread. My last several weeks have been filled writing quotes and bids. That stuff takes up a lot of time! Welcome back! Any exc...

Re: Flashlight for fighting/HD rifle: discussion/advice/opti

My understanding is that for working inside a house, you want something in the 60-100 lumen range, as anything higher starts to splash around and become difficult to use indoors. \ Its something you have to try for yourself and find out how your eyes perceive that light. A good friend of mine doesn...

Re: Tactical Nylon/Gear Chat

We size our hydro carriers on the Mil Spec Camelbak reservoirs, so as long as the commercial ones don't differ drastically (I don't believe they do, but I don't use 'em so check to be sure) they'll all fit. If Source would keep their shapes consistent I'd blanket statement that they'll fit, too, but...

Re: Webbing on the back of chest rig/hydration pack.

The reason our hydration carriers don't have PALS webbing on them is that its a lousy platform to mount stuff to. Anything you mount to a hydro carrier becomes a pendulum with every step. Our hydro carrier line was designed by a former Marine, current Army medic with a lot of time walking in gear. T...

Re: Tactical Nylon/Gear Chat

I'm looking to buy a vest for work. It will go over my body armor, which is warn outside of my uniform. I want a cross draw vest with room for two extra mags. I don't NEED anything else but want to be able to upgrade later if I want. It will be used when I am working armed posts, and sitting in a t...

Not necessarily super lightweight, but they're light-ish and tough enough: The North Face Ultra 106 GTX. The only time I don't wear 'em is when its dead in the middle of summer, because I've got cooler footwear for that. They're trail running/light hiking shoes. I'm on my second pair, and I'll keep ...

Good luck finding a holster without special ordering for the P250. I have so many Glock holsters I use them to level bookshelves...and there are always more, plus every mag pouch style ever devised.

Re: New Glock Gen 4.

The only reason I traded my 30 for a 19 was the cost of ammo; I wanted to be able to afford to shoot it more than the .45. I was always happy with how accurate it was out of the box. I think you're gonna find that you dig it over time.

Re: 5.11 OR Condor Double Rifle Case... please help me decid

In this case, I don't think there's a lot of difference in build quality between 5.11 and Condom. 5.11s clothes are pretty good, but their gear is weak.

Re: Where to buy a quick release buckle like this?

IIRC, ITW/Nexus makes them in a 3/4" size, but those are imported rather than American made. None of my contacts there seem to know why that is, especially with government agency's seeming interest in 3/4" widths for weight savings.

Re: What is mil spec, and why do I want it?

I always saw that as an attention to detail thing. As you noted, nobody will advertise an improperly staked one, but by mentioning it, they're pointing out that they know what's supposed to be done. For some companies, they throw the term around very casually. The hard part is learning who's really ...

Re: Carbon Removal tools. Which one if any?

What happens with the bolt tail is that carbon builds up and then stops at a point; further carbon buildup doesn't happen. Because of that, there's no reason to scrape the bolt tail. All you're doing is taking a part out of spec and putting wear and tear on it that it doesn't need.

Re: What is mil spec, and why do I want it?

I have heard that most lowers are all the same and made by only a few manufacturers. Common misconception, but it's easy to see where the confusion comes from. There are only a handful of companies that make raw forgings, such as Cerro Forge. Companies buy the forgings from those few sources, and m...

Or don't bother dying it and just use it. As stuff gets dirty it tends to settle into a similar shade to everything else around it.

I've got a non-embroidered cap that was a sample from one of our hat vendors. Since it's not interesting, it's just been sitting on my dresser under a pile of other hats with logos that get worn. Its never been anywhere, never done anything, and was hardly handled since it was just a color sample. I...

Re: New AR15 Carbine - I can't decide

The deals are there if you look for 'em. We're always just one tragedy away from another rush, but what they've shown over the last five or six years is that prices come down and availability improves. There will always be plenty of people who are chicken little-ing stuff and willing to overpay for ...

If its going on an AR, I'd use either the MI (to save a little cash) or Troy Professional (to have the bull strong bad ass attachment) that bolt on over your receiver extension. Both use QD swivels to attach to the mount.

The only thing I got that I didn't get for myself was one of those tactical stockings from LA Police Gear with some goodies in it. :D The one thing I picked up for myself was a SOF Bleeder Rip Away pouch from ATS (soooo unusual that I would get ATS gear!) for my War Belt. I have a couple of our Smal...
