Re: Who has a skill to share?

Reloading and bullet casting, I've been doing since 1966ish, probably a few other reloaders amongst us. We could do a reloading issues q&a at night maybe, over beers?

Any skills people want to learn?

Re: It has been too long!

As a side note - Friend of mine is interested in camping, I've known him since ~1972 or so, not really a pro gun guy but ex-Navy and not a bad guy, he could be talked into camping, definitely. Has his own tent etc.

Definitely too long.

Re: Who has a skill to share?

Right now too many of my older school skills are rusty (knapping, for example) but I could show folks howto do one of the most advanced efficient stone warhead techniques, microlith is interesting. You use small chips of (glass or) stone glued into the edge of a wood, antler, bone, ?? form, pitch wo...

Shooting and camping? Sounds fun. My knees prefer car camping lately, but thats not too hard in the
Pacific NorthWet :)

Re: Next meeting?

I'm around but more on FB lately. This dang laptop had a "stroke" & I'm still getting my browser set back up right. Arrgh.

I'm looking at a camping trip sooner, then other things later, got to get out in the woods! :)

Also look at the bitx40 - https://www.hfsigs.com/ - $59 for a SSB 40m transceiver, add an antenna & power at least; Very moddable. Interesting and not that costly.

Re: My Job, My Hell...

IDK if it's really one that belongs here or not; Back in the 70s (right out of high school) took a little boat trip, if I write that up it could maybe fit here. Think "The Minnow of the West Coast" sorta, it was a weird trip, sorta fun for me as a teen tho :)

Re: Choetech 19w solar charger mod

Also - There is a sneaky (i.e.rather neat!) way to use an enhanced mode FET to act as a diode, next to 0 volts loss, even as a full bridge rectifier; If anyone wants the info I can post it here. Efficiency is a nice thing, if you're in the Pacific NorthWet and only occasionally see that bright ball ...

Re: Choetech 19w solar charger mod

Hmmm, which diode, a nice Schottky for lower voltage loss I hope?

And a question, why no heat shrink or the like over the outside of the diode? (Maybe just a modification style thing, that :))

Re: Allright Zombie Squad, I need help! (Stove)

I don't recall many white gas stoves that have problems in cold weather, maybe a little preheating is needed, but once burning they tend to happily churn out BTUs. Compressed Gas and Alcohol stoves are another matter.

Re: Is a Remotely Piloted Vehicle Part of Your Preps?

In the search and rescue group, an aircrew (during a practice mission) once dropped an egg carton near us. The guy who retrieved it suddenly started running quickly, we understood when he told us that the package, when opened, had the message written in it: "Contents to follow." They didn't but it g...

Oh Noes, Assault BP Flintlocks! =p

If I can find caps & powder for my caplock maybe I can break it in, haven't had a chance to fire it yet.

Should be fun to fire the old smokepoles.

Re: Is a Remotely Piloted Vehicle Part of Your Preps?

IMO manufacturers could maybe fix that flyoff issue - If "fly -these- waypoints" is set before launch, then you just force the drone to lock onto the GPS signals before it'll launch; That'd solve THAT cause, if it's that.

Re: I checked, and a UCO candle lantern in cozy fits veggie

That's why in the past I've just tucked it inside of the sleeping bag; Then I know where it is, and it's fairly protected. But if you wanted to keep a spare in the house or car, a can isn't excessive, and (since I've been thinking of keeping spare candles in the car) you could put some candles, ligh...

I checked, and a UCO candle lantern in cozy fits veggie cans

A couple events ago, we were talking secure(r) storage of lanterns on the way to/from camping, I forgot to mention it but I checked & it fits in a 14.5 oz. peas / green beans etc. can nicely, leaving a little room in the bottom of the can, you could drop a lighter and/or some matches in there. The l...
