Re: Stupid Little Things That Hurt Like Hell

A whip kiss. When that oh so loving 8ft whip glances your skin in passing leaving an instant welt that lasts for days and a scar for the next 3 months. But that instant you get hit to the next 5mins it takes to recover your full senses while you remind your body it is not dying. That ranks up there ...

Re: Motorcycle Bail Out- Proof of Concept

Depending on the state helmets are not required, but a nice safety measure. Always keep a par f goggles or sunglasses and a scarf or rag of some sort in your stow space. IL where I live requires eye protection only. Smaller bikes like 250s and 350s or medium dual sports and motards make excellent bu...

Re: Bump in the night guns

I've had people break into apartments I was living in many times. I chased them with an axe and went back to bed. No one has ever stuck around long enough for me to shoot them anyways, but a large man laughing histarically while chasing them with an axe has to leave an impression. People don't neces...

Re: Stupid Little Things That Hurt Like Hell

Alright I've got one for you, but I will start by examples of what seems like mere child's play in comparison. I've had a branch of pine needles slap me square in my open eye, with 3 penetrations. I have had 3 toes from the big toe across broken and the toe nails ripped off. I've pissed a kidneyston...

Re: Barrel life of a 10/22

I've had mine since 96, for the 3 years I lived in indiana I put 3 boxes of 525 crappy remmington HPs a weekday because I had nothing much to do. Back then those boxes were $8 each so I'd spend hours. The barrel is perfect. The only things wrong were ejector spring and slide spring since I got it.

You know most of the modern slash plates and panels are either a small layer of threaded chain mail or a sheet of pvc right?

Re: Would a 22 LR kill a zombie?

Its all Newtonian Physics. As far as the idea of absorption of energy a portion of energy it absorbed in the micro structures of the bone either flexing or breaking, as well as the structure of the metallic crystals. So one of 4 main things happen. 1. the force of the 2 object make both fragment and...

Re: Would a 22 LR kill a zombie?

Well according to the laws of conservation of momentum the object in motion will stay in motion unless otherwise constrained. So bullet hits skin with little slowing of speed. It impacts bone and the speed is severely reduced as it flexes to the point of catastrophic failure. What ever momentum cont...

My question is when does your "Sleep System" turn into multiple items? This exercise is more about flexibility and creativity than it is a pissing contest over my GI gear is superior to that guys wet blanket or that other guys animal skins. Fact is a wool blanket save my life in the blizzard of 2011...

Re: Would a 22 LR kill a zombie?

Out of curiosity how does thermodynamics rate in the equation for the kinetic yield pressure for human tissue? Thermodynamics does begin to allude to the combustion and thermal expansion of the gas leading to the departure of the armature, but has little to do with trajectory unless you use it to ca...

Isn't dragonscale a world of fail though? Wears too fast, doesn't last as long as is required for a certification? Face the music, get handgun protection in LV III or IIIa, add a rifle plate and pray. The chances of you having massive hemorrhaging and concave ribcage from shotgun or high power rifle...

Well this topic doesn't illuminate on the type of survival, conditions, moving, entrenching, or anything else. So why would I have a wool blanket on my pick 5? Worst case scenario terrible weather, harsh temperatures on both spectrum, wet when not completely waterless, miserable, lots of movement, h...

I think you are going about it wrong... What dog is embarrassed about a collar other than the infamous cone? Well put a cone on him if he kills a chicken. AND thats not all. What dog is not embarrassed about wearing hats? Tie the chicken onto its head as a hat. The dog will be so mortified it will n...

1. CS shovel 2. Wool Blanket 3. Water Purifier 4. Tarp 5. Steel Coni Trap 1. If I can't make something with the shovel I can make a tool that will with it. 2. It gets cold, and little beats wool. Also used as winter clothing. 3. I can make fire, but what I can't do is drink water without out this or...

Re: PALS vest/plate carrier + battle belt?

A double or triple retention holster will definitely hold it in place. From a long arm pistol grip to the holster would be the quickest line. Going from long arm to pistol you could do a throw down to spin the sling and clear the weapon while your hand is already drawing the pistol. Its more optimal...

Re: PALS vest/plate carrier + battle belt?

Question: If you are going as far as chest rigging a pistol, why not up angle it and raise it to the top bands of the plate carrier? I never see it done, but its a hell of a lot more safe for you and those immediately around you if the barrel is pointed 270 and is riding about 2 inches above where a...

Who cares if you shoot off a few hundred rounds of 22 to keep some troll pinned down while others can move to a better position. No trolls were aimed at or harmed in the experiment all trolls...

Just get the CS shovel. It works fine as a hatchet. Save weight and room. It will not work as a full size axe, but hatchet and machete work its more than sufficient.

Re: Pistol grip shotgun legality question

If you are in Chicago its not ok, but most other places are fine. You can't take it hunting without a mag plug though. If you ever thought to. Other than that look up State, County and City ordinances because there might be some law against it.
