Re: Dixie "Icepocalypse" 2014-What Worked/Didn't

I think it's been pretty well drilled into people's minds in this thread already, but on the back feeding issue....... As a lineman, please, please, please please make sure you don't back feed into transformers. Most people don't realize that you can actually send power back into the grid from your ...

Re: Dixie "Icepocalypse" 2014-What Worked/Didn't

Yup, they're actually sending more crews down here it's so bad. I've been here since friday and I'm leaving this saturday. They're planning on having guys here until at least next weekend. They got most of the stuff in the city limits straightened out, but there are still people in the country that ...

Re: Dixie "Icepocalypse" 2014-What Worked/Didn't

I am a utility worker and I'm here in a town at the bottom of South Carolina. I drove here, from north of the mason dixon line, to do storm damage restoration for telecommunications. I have never, ever seen anything like this before. This storm was on Wedensday, I'm still here, and I'm scheduled to ...

Re: Nationwide propane shortage

We just had our tank topped off a few days ago, the price was 3.48/gallon up from 3.26/gal in december.
I've heard nothing of a propane shortage.

Re: Baofeng 5R+ questions

That's exactly what I said. But to me more clear about what I meant: People who are not amateur radio operators want the cheapest possible radio they can get their hands on, which until baofeng, used to be the bubblepack frs/gmrs radios. Those bubblepack radios can not transmit on ham frequencies. L...

Re: Baofeng 5R+ questions

I think that most people around my area are officially blaming baofeng for one of the larger linked repeater systems getting completely shut down last week. Since they're so incredibly cheap, cheaper than bubblepack FRS radios, lots of people had been getting them and using them (unlicensed) on the ...

Re: Hammock Camping Questions

I've been hammock camping for about 6 years now. I love it so much. I use a hennessey in the summertime / bug season, and if bugs aren't a concern I prefer the eno, for ease of entry/exit. I prefer the kammock python straps. I've found that I can go to about 20F with my setup, which consists of a ke...

Here is a list of the UK CB Bandplan. http://www.tec-lab.co.uk/hesk/knowledgebase.php?article=14" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; As we all know from previous threads, it's illegal for someone in the USA to run FM on these frequencies and try to make transoceanic contacts, and I sugges...

Re: Random guy walks into your apartment/house

We tend to leave the front door open and have just the screen door, as we are trying to save money on AC. That being said, there would have been a shotgun pointed at the guy. Delaware is a must-retreat state, so I'd have been on the phone with the police immediately. I'd only be justified to use for...

Re: Old Dish satellite dish as antenna?

Some people use these for hobby satellite listening, but you'd end up investing more money then you probably want to (new lnb, rotator, radio gear.) If you want to get rid of it though, see if there are any electronics recycling places near you. It would be better then just throwing it out.

Re: 10 meter / cb radio ?'s

As was mentioned earlier, such rigs are illegal and it's against ZS policy to discuss or promote illegal activities. It is not illegal to own these rigs. It's just illegal to use them to transmit on frequencies that you're not authorized to. It's perfectly OK to have one of these, and if you're a l...

Re: Drug People Littering On Your Property

That's a lot of reading-in for "someone threw an empty pill bottle with no label over my fence one time" ~sent via spacearmadillogram~ but based on the caliber of trash that I usually find back there (this isn't the first pill bottle, and I've found plenty of baggies and a needle once) coupled with...

Re: Drug People Littering On Your Property

"They" could throw a dead hooker in my yard, and I wouldn't be angry. Upset, maybe... I would certainly ask them to drag said dead hooker some place else... But I clearly don't think the situation would rate violence regardless. I find that hard to believe, but OK. I'm not going to berate you about...

Re: Drug People Littering On Your Property

It's not that they were just littering. It's that they had the audacity to throw what I'm 100% sure was drug paraphernalia while I'm quite obviously standing right the fuck there. Are you saying that if someone walked past your house, while you were standing in the yard, and threw something into you...

Re: Drug People Littering On Your Property

Haha, I'm not offended. I'm more offended about the people littering up my yard. I'll have to look into these LED Floodlights, I have regular floodlights now, and I'm sure they draw a whole lot of energy when they're on. I'm not opposed to putting surveillance up, but I probably won't do anything to...

Re: Drug People Littering On Your Property

Good point on the lights, I have motion lights on the house, but they won't trigger if someone is just on the trail. They will trigger if someone is in the yard. There have been several high-level drug busts in the neighborhood down the street from mine, and they are connected by that trail. It's a ...

Drug People Littering On Your Property

This happened about a half hour ago, while I was outside working on my canoe. I live in a pretty decent neighborhood, but it's not too far from the ghetto. My yard butts up against a well-traveled pedestrian trail. People walk by all the time, day and night. Never really have trouble. Occasionally I...

http://rapidhate.org/music/image.jpeg This is my 98 cherokee. I have been lusting for a cherokee for a long time and I bought a 99 cherokee. It was totaled 2 weeks later.
