Re: If you could buy any 5 Bug Out Knives for under $100....

If its $100 per knife Can I buy 3 and keep the total under $500? Rat Izula for food Rat RC3 for small work Rat (are you seeing a trend yet  ) RC5 If its $100 for all 5 knives... join the real world. Nothing in that realm is srong enough for that kind of abuse. I went with: Rat Izula Rat RC4

Re: Streamlight Sidewinder vs Surefire G2LED

Good old flashlight nerd debate brewing here, me likes! Here's what happened for me: From birth until around summer 2006 I was all about the mag-lights, both cop-size and mini. I have one cop-size in my car that still works and the batteries expired in 2006, oddly enough. In the summer of 2006 I pic...

Re: My Ultimate Z-Day clothing Set (but I don't have the $$ )

I don't know if people are making judgements based on post count (low post count = posts have to be taken seriously) or if people are afraid to have fun anymore but it seems like whenever someone posts something like the OP did they get blasted with the "zombies aren't real omg lol ftlhax!!one1" kin...

Re: Winter Jackets (TAD, Northface, Columbia, 5.11)

Cold winter where? You mention that you lived in the south for the last couple of years but you didn't mention your current location. If you are still in the south, I recommend a good waterproof barrier & thermals. If you are north, you will need something more snow-proof. I have a TAD stealth hoodi...

Re: Arizona Chapter Officer Selection

I can't remember who all I met earlier this year at the get-together for movie night in Tucson but I think any of those candidates are fine. These guys have been pretty active on the boards and seem motivated to do stuff. I was hoping to get in some bug out/camping time with some other AZ folks but ...

Thing I usually end up doing is to empty everything out, and put only the stuff I know I use every day in there. Then wait a week. At the end of that week, I figure out what stuff I said "I wish I had ____ " the most about during the week and add that. Then wait another week. Some stuff never gets u...

Re: Do I even need to make a BOB?

Why do you need a BOB? You don't camp? Go hiking? A BOB is a good excuse to GTFO of the house. Field testing? Sure, get out get some exercise, fresh air, enjoy the natural world. If you have what you need to go backpack camping for a weekend, you pretty much have a BOB. I really don't understand peo...

Re: 870 tactical

I think part of the problem is that people assume with a shotgun you can just point in a general direction and shoot to hit the target. Plus if someone invades your home and they don't have a weapon, a shotgun makes a big scary boom sound that will surely drive them off. More on topic, I don't know ...

Re: not a go bag but a go everywere bag

When I was back in the states I had a EDClose bag which contained some basic items. Multi-tool, lighter, flashlight, small first aid kit, pens, and a soft shell rain jacket were the most commonly carried items. Also kept a nalgene with water and a couple granola bars in there, took it with me to wor...

Is that 30 pounds with or without water? Cause you can usually figure 4 liters of water to add about 9 pounds to the whole pack. Does that include the weapon and full ammo load also? +1 on the recommendation for a sleeping pad of some sort. And maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anything to sleep i...

Re: ZS Hot or Not: Combat Loadout edition "Mall Ninja"

It was cold as hell this day in Bosnia. Not real high speed, just mostly what I was required to wear. I don't gear much for combat anymore, normally just carry my pistol when I load out. Maybe when I get home I'll go all ninja, though I'm more likely to look like a terrorist than a ninja. This is ab...

I like how everything is black and your clothes are packaged like you're transporting cocaine. I see a mini-mag flashlight listed, I recommend ditching it for a better LED flashlight. Maybe double up here, or pick up a headlamp so you can have light without using your hands. I don't see anything lis...

If you still need a pouch, I picked up a Maxpedition FR-1 for my IFAK and I like it a lot. I got it from LA Police Gear for about $33 and it's pretty good quality. Has a neat carry handle on the top too for quick grabs, and some shock cord on the front. It's the same dimensions as the Emdom B.O.M.B ...

that's weird that it would straight up break like that, dang thing is made of stainless steel so i would at least expect it to be as sturdy as a key. that said, i've dropped mine bunches of times and it never broke, so could be a flawed piece or possibly just a freak occurance.

I’m bored at work today (huh, bored at work in Iraq you say? Yep, that’s right) so I decided to talk a little bit about my knife/tool collection. It’s a multi-purpose collection, serving as available for bug outs, deployments, camping, and EDC. I’ll start by going with the most common that I have on...
