Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)

The wife bought it for me to tuck into my preps stored in our Jeep: Böker Plus Snac Pac While not as cool as my titanium spork, or as tacticool as my Ka-Bar Tactical Spork, this set does have the nice addition of salt & pepper shakers built into the cover. Usually, when she shops for things like thi...

United States sending troops to bolster Saudi defenses after attack Iran says it will destroy any aggressor Anyone need a crystal ball to see where this is going? I don't get it. What's gonna happen next? :? Will the Iranians surrender or something? No, silly! They're all going to Disneyland.

Re: 2019 - Current Battle Rifles in 7.62x51

I don't plan on getting one for a while, but I really want a bigger semi-auto for hunting or blasting one day. And I like to keep up as the market is constantly changing. Any experience, preferences, suggestions?? The list I'm aware of off the top of my head: 1. AR10 in various flavors (any good on...

Re: strangest thing you have ever seen

Interesting thread... I've seen too damn many "strange" things for any single one to be the strangest, but one of the top ten would have to be: Aboard ship in the USN, headed across the Atlantic on our way to Rota, Spain in 1975. Just at sunset, I happened to be up on the starboard gun mount making ...

Iran's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif warns of 'all-out war' https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/09/iran-foreign-minister-javad-zarif-warns-war-190919104807600.html Funny that. Oil is no longer a weapon now that the US has plenty of it. Seems to me I recall that oil most certainly was a weapon back w...

The Extar EP9 came home today. That thing is light as a feather and runs like a clock. You can't beat it for $440 delivered to the LGS. I shamefully bought a factory Glock 33 round magazine for the first time to go with it.
ETS just announced new 40 round Glock mags for under $30 list

If you took your First Aid course more than five years ago you really should go again. Yes! 1. Time passes. 2. Things change. 3. Stay current. Exactly! I got my original EMT certification almost 40 years ago and imagine my surprise to learn that we stopped using leeches! (though they are making a c...

Re: Buying emergency water from Amazon

If it's grab-and-go you're looking for, buy a few cases of bottled water and call it a good start. If you go this route, constant stock rotation is a good idea. By that I mean, buying a large enough quantity to last for the time period you're prepping for, plus a payday, then use the oldest of that...

Re: Buying emergency water from Amazon

Step one, get some training: https://www.redcross.ca/training-and-certification Step two, put together a first aid kit that supports your abilities/training/needs. My advice on this part is to not purchase a pre-made kit. The vast majority of them are next to worthless when it comes to serious traum...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

Do gifts count? I happened to mention to a friend the other day that I guess it's time I got myself an "evil black rifle" since I was moving to Northern Idaho and some political stuff that recently made the news. They were shocked, shocked I say, that I had not yet been brought over to the Dark Side...

Re: Have you had to draw your concealed carry, and why?

My wife just reminded me of one incident that happened a year or two back. We have two driveways on one end of our property, a paved one that comes up to the two-car garage that's attached to the house, and a gravel one that branches off of that and leads off to my shed (which the previous owner/re...

I repaired my security camera system. It got zapped by an electrical storm knocking out the power supply to the cameras.
Same thing happened to the PS on one of my rear yard cameras. I now keep two spares in the house.

Saw this as a ad before a youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Unp4PaMKezY Am I the only one cringing seeing steel being shot at what seems like too close range? I would suspect they are shooting frangible ammo. It turns to powder when it hits steel. Likely so. Still makes me cringe though.

Re: Questions about power inverters

A nice 100 amp+ alternator hookup from the car would be nice to have....all that is required is an appropriate set of jumper cables...and enough gas for an hour of run time every day. They are cheaper and easier to hook up than an extra solar panel....just sayin. True enough but we have to be caref...
