Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

I just found out someone I had over to my house recently has come down with COVID. She became mildly symptomatic two days ago and seriously symptomatic today. We had her over 10 days ago. The best study I can find say that she was contagious about 2.5 days before the onset of symptoms, so a total of...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

Unemployment estimates are daunting. Mostly low wage, low skill jobs like food service and entertainment. However; factories are shutting down, at least "temporarily" as well. Honda announced they were idling their Lincoln, AL factory putting thousands out of work and trimming production by 40K car...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

This is such a weird combination of being constantly stressed and thinking about whether or not we're making the right decisions and then getting involved in a project and completely forgetting about the pandemic until I think "Oh, I need X. I'll just run to the store and grab some... Oh..."

I'm not sure "a stone" drops as fast as this morning's market. Stayed just 0.02% above the 2nd circuit breaker, which is astonishing.

When I saw overnight DJI futures were down 1k, I figured this morning would be rough but we really need to get our shit together and stop popping the damned circuit breaker on the opening bell!

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

I'm sorry. I just don't believe there is a proliferation of Nazi groups in the U S. I find the whole idea to be some kind of scare propaganda to draw attention away from groups who are the real threat to our country. I mean really... How many people have you met in your life sympathetic to Nazis ? ...

Yeah, I really think the clerk's behavior was just so weird that the driver's brain said "Nope. I am not dealing with that. That is not part of the script." and took off.

Re: Have you had to draw your concealed carry, and why?

Yes, twice. 1) Middle of the night I went out to check to see if the barn was locked. A wolf and I tried to round the same corner from different directions. He lunged at me, I shot at him. In retrospect, I've always wondered why he made an issue of it rather than running off. I wonder if he thought ...

It's over. We are in the end game now. Unless something changes dramatically in the next week or so we will be facing financial Armageddon by the end of October. Markets are predictable but a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head is inescapable. What just happened to give you this opinion? I mi...

I like Lockpicking Lawyer's channel. I did not know he found such a lock. Everytime I see him on Youtube it seem she has every lock in pieces faster than you can say "stop that!" There's 3 cylinders out there that are generally regarded as "destructive opening only" for lack of a better term. The A...

Re: Exterior Door Security

When we moved here, we went through a lot of trying to harden the doors. Our eventual conclusion was that this house was designed with too much ground floor glass to make it actually hard to get into. We settled for making sure of two things 1) They were going to have to break the shit out of someth...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

ZeroHedge preaches the end is near more often than an Appalachian televangelist and with just as much accuracy to what financial markets actually do. In fact, ZH actually disproves the adage that "even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while". If ZH broke a clock, it wouldn't be right even once a...

Re: Active Shooter on Vegas Strip

I'd agree except there is a problem with the theory. Prior to the introduction of these scripts in to our society mass public shooting that were not politically related were a bit of a rarity. Still, even then the shooter was most often seriously mentally ill, such as with the Texas Bell Tower shoo...

I am all about better living through chemistry. BP meds and antibiotics have extended the life of billions. But these brain drugs are remarkably consistent with active shooters. Any other drug that had a 1 in hundred thousand chance of spontaneously killing a few dozen people a year would have been...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

For those of you making fun of the thread, consider this: For millions of people, the bomb did explode. Americans lost houses, cars, and livelyhoods in the debt collapse in 2007-2008. Around here, very, very few people have had any meaningful recovery. Argentina worsened again. Venezuela is down the...

Re: Buying diesel in the summer and storing until winter?

So what would be classified as the right kind of plastic drums for kerosene or diesel? Many people don't use the right stuff even for things like rain water barrels to water their flowerbeds, let alone for a more specific and potentially hazardous use. How long do such barrels last? Do you buy them...

Re: Buying diesel in the summer and storing until winter?

You want to put diesel into a plastic drum? I wouldn't do that. I'd find a metal barrel of whatever size you need, particularly if the drum is going to be exposed to heat fluctuations. This is especially true for longer term storage. To be fair, I wouldn't do it with kerosene either. It works fine,...

Buying diesel in the summer and storing until winter?

We have a little tractor that's the only diesel engine in our fleet. We've been buying it fuel 5 gallons at a time and, though it doesn't use fuel very fast at all, that's been enough to keep us from running into gelling trouble in the winter. However, it's kind of a pain in the ass to go find diese...

Re: New York Magazine Doomsday article

<----------- Darwinism explained in one sentence Adaptability happens on an evolutionary time scale. It's not a terrible problem if the climate heats 2-4C over a span of a thousand generations. Animals will evolve to adapt to that just fine. It's a much bigger problem when humans are causing that s...
