We'reWolf wrote:you could get the amd 65 hand guard?
or go with like a utg quad rail and that solves both the hand guard and gas tube problem
I'm just going to go with a standard AK bottom guard and leave the top tube bare.

Re: AMD kit build hybrid?

Well I was told by someone else that it's most likely of a Type 3 pattern. And the gas block is a Type 56S which accepts AKM bayonets, unlike standard type 3 gas blocks which take first pattern bayonets

AMD kit build hybrid?

I recently purchased my first AK and I noticed something interesting about it. I've long wanted an AMD-65 and I had not been paying attention to it fully at the pawn shop but everything looked go so I bought it and went to the range, put twenty rounds through it then went home and cleaned it up. It'...

Re: Stevens 5100 - Apocalypse Shotgun part 2?

Here's a preview of the work I have done on it so far. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z434/reddawnk/Stevens02_zps24bbcce9.jpg Some nice brass finish on the receiver. I am going to make this look classy with a nice brass wash on the reciever and barrel then a very nice no stain linseed oil on th...

Re: Stealth Weapon?

a GOOD pistol crossbow might be worthy, but not the junk you see comonly. barnett used to make the Trident that was pretty good. Someone handy could make a good one, plns used to be a regular feature in Popular Mechanics. Backwoodsman has re run them oocasionally. I'd be more likley to use a crossb...

Re: Stevens 5100 - Apocalypse Shotgun part 2?

Cutting it back to 20 inches makes it handy. Chokes make it work like it should with a shorter barrel. Cut back without the chokes, your patterns are likely going to suck. Maybe not,.. but likely so. Also,. the ability to drop a different choke in each barrel makes it more versatile. The double tri...

Re: Apocalypse Shotgun - Single Shot Rossi - Completed Proje

I've put together a single shot h&r. I added a sling and the choate 'store arm' fore end. I can take the gun down without tools. I also picked up one of the gunadapters.com 8" rifled .22lr adapters. Mine has a transfer bar safety as well. It's a pretty clever workaround in my opinion. Pics, and how...

Re: Apocalypse Shotgun - Single Shot Rossi - Completed Proje

Here's the last bit of kit so to say on the Apocalypse Shotgun. A shooting video. The S&B Buckshot hits with about 50% more recoil it feels like than the bird shot. They are one hell of a round. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spnthJnvXi4 Thanks for this project it is BADAZZ! I just bought a H&R sing...

Re: WWII Soviet Steel Helmet vs SKS & Mosin Nagant

I had a couple people ask me in PM's and on youtube and elsewhere what happened with the SKS round and why it did not go through it when other videos show the SKS penetrating steel helmets. This is what happened in so much as we can tell given the large holes in the back of the dresser and the botto...

Re: WWII Soviet Steel Helmet vs SKS & Mosin Nagant

Cool. What about pistol rounds? Iwould be interested to 9 and 45 up against a similar helmet. Off camera we shot it with a 38 special, 32 auto and birdshot plus buck shot. If the video gets enough attention I'll order another helmet and do a similar test. Unfortunately I don't have a 9mm or a 45......

Re: WWII Soviet Steel Helmet vs SKS & Mosin Nagant

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GKMVv1gSpM Embedded it for you. Thanks the embedding works for me sometimes and not others. Everyone puts down the M16 and the 5.56 when it first came out, but one of the requirements the US Military wanted in the new caliber was the ability to penetrate a steel helm...

WWII Soviet Steel Helmet vs SKS & Mosin Nagant

I had a soviet steel helmet in the WWII style (no idea what year it was made) sitting around. Years ago I shot an M1 Helmet with a Mosin Nagant and was surprised at the result. I decided to do a test to show how little it really protects against a direct hit from an SKS and a Mosin Nagant. They neve...

Re: Stevens 5100 - Apocalypse Shotgun part 2?

Your hammers and other internals may be dammaged from older corrosive ammunition, I lost a hammer in my old 1908 Tobin Side by Side last year because of corrosion I hadn't paid enough attention too. Happily $40 at one of my gunsmith friends shops and she was back on the working line! I pulled it ap...

Stevens 5100 - Custom SxS

Tonight I bought a Stevens 5100 from a coworker for the low price of $60. However it is beat to hell and really in need of a lot of repair before it will even work again. At the current moment I don't know what I want to do with it or even what it is actually worth. I thought 60 sounded fair and so ...

Re: Apocalypse Shotgun - Single Shot Rossi - Completed Proje

Love the gun.... Getting me inspired a little. Local gun shop has a couple pretty old youth model .22lr's for cheap. I might pick one up and turn it into an Apocalypse rifle. I say do it. Keep the gun fully functional then just have fun with it. Keep in mind you'll probably never get any money for ...

EEP, sorry about that. It may have seemed that I was a little aggressive. I apologise. On a plus side, you now have me wanting a long bladed bayonet for my pointy toy collection. Damn me and my love of sleek sexy suave shiny stuff. No worries you did not but I have had tons of people yell at me not...

Re: M1917 Bayonet find

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY DO NOT CLEAN IT! Look at it this way, If its uncleaned and an appraiser says "well I'd give you 5X more if it was clean" you can clean it, can't you? But if you gao and he says "it'd be worth 5X more with an original patina" you can't go back and put it on, can you?...

Re: High point 9mm carbine

I like them, They aren't as good as a Beretta of course but they are decent carbines. Hard as hell to take down and clean though so you just have to ghetto clean them. They last awhile and I drove a truck over mine, only thing that broke was the stock so I replaced it with an ATI stock. For the mone...
