Re: War of the Worlds - 2020 Epix Series

Anyone catch episode 4 last night? It's live on the website at https://www.epix.com/series/war-of-the-worlds Some interesting plot building still happening. The hospital is abandoned as the terminator dogs raid it. Not all make it out. The mountain top satellite retreat has some interesting developm...

Re: War of the Worlds - 2020 Epix Series

Just finished Episode 1. I'm hooked. Thanks for putting this on my radar HKTackDriver. How many episodes are free before I give my credit card number to Epix? Not sure. https://troypoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/install-not-sure-kodi.png Are there 3 episodes currently available? Maybe they'll...

Re: War of the Worlds - 2020 Epix Series

Episode 3 was great - still building up a bit, so that's cool. I'm waiting to see how humanity fights back. Seems like they're not doing too well right now!

War of the Worlds - 2020 Epix Series

I'm surprised that there is no current thread in here already! This is probably one of the more interesting takes on the classic book. The series starts with hearing that humanity has sent out music into the universe, only to hear a signal back from what we assume is a sentient species. The response...

Re: Fear The Walking Dead

I'm very confused about the military hunter-killer teams roaming the streets, gunning down uninfected civilians. Realistically, I can't see that happening, especially at such an early stage in the outbreak. I agree. Nine days in and soldiers have been willing to take orders to murder uninfected Ame...

Re: SHTF Convoy Driving

Sounds like you've never taken a road trip with other cars of people! A few rules we travel by: 1) Stop for gas when the first vehicle gets down to 1/3, even if it inconveniences a Prius owner. 2) Handheld radios not only pass the time, but allow the front vehicle to radio back speed traps (road haz...

The pic is while getting new shoes - Toyo Open Country AT2's - excellent in all conditions so far. Upgraded to Morimoto HID's a...

Re: Bug Out Vehicle Porn - pictures only please

Since my wife's 99 Solara decided to start pissing oil on the exhaust manifold, I picked up a new station car to play with. Here's my new (to me) 2007 Toyota 4Runner V8 Limited https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/555799_10151921201460376_719081007_n.jpg Probably going to go with snow ti...

Re: Toyota Tundra....with a Cummins?

Can't wait to buy this Cummins in the titan next year! Hopefully it also makes it to the armada as well with a more fuel economic tranny. The currently planned tranny will be designed for durability over economy. I'm really looking forward to this!

Re: Join the Pack

Ineff - too much risk based on the attitudes, I'm avoiding them altogether. After discussing with my friend who tried to recruit me, I decided that with his PO background, to bring him to us and avoid those I didn't know. I've known my bud for 20 years and although we're not tight, I know he'd foll...

Re: Join the Pack

Sorry, new job, new baby, this is the first time in awhile I got on ZS. I vetted my friend's group a bit more. After asking about 6 questions, it became obvious that this was a "teach us and provide for us" group more than anything. So I'll stick with the people I know well and can trust. The lesson...

Re: BMW X5 35d DIESEL advice

Based on what I heard here and on other forums, I passed on the X5 and won't bother with BMW's. If I lease again, maybe. Plus, I just got a new job, so a new car isn't necessary. All I need is my wife's beater to get me to the train station.

Re: Random guy walks into your apartment/house

Everyone's situation is different. I wouldn't wait for a threat to elevate itself to being an imminent threat to my wife or kids. Just me in the house? I'd yell, bang pots and pans, throw a couple water balloons at him, maybe make him an omlette and then if he doesn't leave, I'd shoot. Speaking of ...

Re: Random guy walks into your apartment/house

Keep in mind that if you shoot someone unarmed you may avoid legal incarceration but will likely face civil suits. Protecting your financial interests would suggest that using the least amount of violence needed to resolve the situation would be the best course of action. Plus, it makes you sound l...

Re: Random guy walks into your apartment/house

Two infants and a pregnant wife in my house. I'm always armed, so that's a non issue. I live on a dead end block with lots of property, no one "makes a mistake" by walking in the wrong door, so that scenario is out. If he's stepping closer to my kids, he gets shot if I can so without my kids getting...

Re: BMW X5 35d DIESEL advice

Thanks for all of the info guys! This particular vehicle doesn't have the 3rd row, but from what I've seen, it doesn't do much for us anyway. Not until they can strap themselves in at least. The baby chores will be done with my wife's minivan, so I'm not too concerned about that. I was thinking abou...

Re: BMW X5 35d DIESEL advice

I definitely know about the DEF, but thanks for the heads up anyway! Yes, I plan to stock up on a 50k mile supply at minimum, but in a disaster, who knows how long fuel would be available anyway? I know there is a DEF delete available with remapping, but I like the vehicle BECAUSE it's a clean diese...
