Re: MOLLE Vest: The heck do I do with it?

My options thus far: -Sell it. -Spray paint it and run it. -Run it stock with Oakleys, 5.11 pants, a G-shock watch, and other name brands that hide the fact I work in a cubicle. -Arrange utility pouches over it as an organizer/container for a cache kit. -Earn money responding to kinky Craiglist ads...

Re: E&E belt kit

I call this the A-K Band , or "anti-kidnapping band." I designed this for traveling in South America, as a way of always having escape tools on me in case I was snatched out of a whorehouse. I think it would be pretty handy for a long term SHTF situation, as well as a FetLife party gone wrong. The ...

Re: weapons that dont need to be cleaned

My father-in-law's semi-auto shotgun apparently hasn't needed to be cleaned since he bought it over a decade ago.

It's inability to properly cycle a round is apparently unrelated.

Well, at least in the US we have choices beside Wachovia, etc. There are still local and regional FIs that arguably have more ethical business practices.

Re: Digital money for currency/bank protection

I just don't get the concept of intangible wealth creation such as these. I think it's sort of a fascinating experiment. Seems to me that the USD is pretty much intangible wealth, but we've forgotten that since we deal with it so much and relate tangible objects to it on a daily basis. The differen...

Re: Digital money for currency/bank protection

BitCoin's an interesting experiment in the metricing of a currency. In short term contexts it may allow you flexibility more standard currencies don't. However, it's utility in the real world is tied to the ability to convert it into goods or standard currency. I would think that in a mega-inflation...

Re: New Zombie kabars coming out

The old Western W49 bowie was pretty decent looking as well. Completely agree...I just wish they were still making them. For me it came down to a high carbon blade and a non-trophy item piece. I have a feeling I'd end up putting the Western in a safe place rather than on my hip. I believe there are...

Re: Systema Anyone?

Well, Systema is culturally Russian, so it's more likely to be a commie sleeper cell than nazis  I kid, I kid. Having met and cross-trained with a couple system practitioners, my impression was the same as yours. Those that spent more time on body mechanics and sweet throws taught me a lot. Per...

Beth, you're awful close to a nationally respected shop, Lancaster Archery (http://www.lancasterarchery.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). My advice would be to drop in and shoot some of your options. I don't know if they carry Sage off-hand, but I have found their pro-staff to be...

Re: The ZS collaborative Fixed Blade Recommendation Thread

Have you considered a vintage W-49? Might take some looking since they came in a variety of steels, but the aesthetic, size and price all seem to be correct. Like any good prepper I have access to Sam's, and their internal brand AJ can be had for something like 6gal/$30. Add a touch of sugar or molassas and good yeast. Figure about $6/gal total.

Re: Any Experience with Martial Blade Concepts?

I have seen some vids and checked the guys background. I was concerned it was one of those deals where it's all about selling DVD's and books on a 'invented" system. But he does seem to have rubbed elbows with some big names. I may go ahead and attend a few sessions and see how it is, I was hoping ...

Re: Any Experience with Martial Blade Concepts?

I know one certified instructor and one other fellow working through the program. I haven't worked the system with them, but did get to discuss it with them and saw how it bled over into some of the other stuff we were working on. Seemed to me to be an effective and streamlined system, distilled out...

Well, you've got Mr. Beer and such that you can get almost anywhere. Alternatively, local and online homebrew supply shops(Midwest Brewing, Northern brewer) typically make their own kits in various levels of simplicity.

Re: Walmart Wool Socks..Good Buy?

The Kirklands are what all my family wears out for hunting whitetail in PA, and they suggested them to me for my first year. I picked up a package and have been happy with them for the two or three times I've been out, but can only compare them to real cheapies from personal experience.
