Re: Mini Excavator Need Help

Don't buy one..... Just rent one when you really need it. Spend the money on a good trailer and truck for hauling. A lot of money is saved in the maintenance and downtime just renting. Having a rental forces you to have a plan and commit time to a job too.

Re: MOLLE makeup bag?

Not too long ago I got into makeup. I have been using my condor T&T pouch as a makeup bag. I picked up some more makeup and need a bigger bag. Do any of you use MOLLE or tactical bags as makeup bags? I would like some ideas as to what MOLLE bag would make a good makeup bag. Sent from my SGH-M919 us...

Re: Medieval McDonalds?

You could take some inspiration from the Romans. Little snack bars (thermopolia) that sold wine, beer, breads, pickles, olives, and other things abound. Some even appear to be a chain resturaunt with one owner building several across many towns and villages. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmUFnrqJoV0

Re: Bugging in an apt, as the Building Manager.

How about some sandbags? One bale of 500 will supply your needs to shore up a door or keep storm driven rain out. A big pile of them will reinforce and exterior door and keep bad guys out. Back up power or a portable generator to run the security cameras. CB/Police/Fire scanner. Flat screen monitor ...

I really enjoyed the Mock Bug out contests and the After action reviews. Are these no more?

I wasn't able to locate any except in individual chapters.

Re: Bug Out Bike Nearly Finished

My first impression is top heaviness. The trailer is as tall as it is wide without anything loaded. Heavy stuff low and over or forward of the trailers axle. The orange shirt is fantastic, add a flag on a pole to get it up there so larger vehicles are aware of your presence. Orange panels on the sid...

As per the title - I want a treadmill. If I am interpreting your picture correctly, your allergic to them too. Just kidding. I am glad you brought this up. When I get moved into a new place I want one too. My area is all hills and the weather can be unpredictable; additionally I can make watc...

Re: military waterproof bag

you mean the rubberized sack with the shoelace glued to it? if so, your best option is to twist and fold the top over and tie the bend shut. your real best option is to jut get a dry bag like pictured above. this is the army's way of overpaying for garbage bags. Agreed. Mash it down and squeeze all...

In order to read NYTimes articles older than a few days, one is required to join that site. Can you perhaps expand on your comment? Odd? I click on the link and go directly to the web page........ Might be because I have it cached. It is about a town in Fulton county, GA in which every service we t...

Re: Suburban Family Tornado Shelter and Preparation.

Hmm any way to run a power cable to it? Be nice. You can have a charging station with rechargeable batteries in there. A booster pack fully charged, and power for a laptop to play kids movies while you wait. Only times I have had to wait out a tornado as possible, it was hot and humid. So the fan as...

Re: Buried Camper Project

If it is not a NBC protected shelter......... Why bury it? Is it for passive solar and earth sheltered heating? That amount of dirt piled on top will provide excellent radiation protection. Checmical agents, not so much since they are generally heavier than air and will sink to the lowest level. Th...

Google earth/maps are invaluable as a place to get started, but as noted actually getting eyeballs on stuff is important. If you're worried about grid down events, be sure to get those maps printed or even laminated. The satellite imagery is often in my case 2-5 years out of date. Bridges taken dow...

I might buy some for the BOB as emergency food. Since I can't stand the stuff, it is unlikely I will "borrow" some and forget to replace it.
