Re: Columbia Hiking Pants ?

I have a pair of the L.L. Bean hiking pants. The belt is completely detachable. They are called Timberledge Z/0, product no: 242496. They seem very well made, and I haven't experienced any problems similar to those discussed above, though I would have preferred a color other than light tan.

Re: where would you take shelter if zombies attacked?

Anoher SEPA guy here. My biggest concern is if the SHTF while I am working in Central Philadelphia. But even at home there is the concern of a great westward migration from the western portion of the city if s*** goes down, as I only live a few blocks from the edge of the city. But regardless, the p...

Re: Hi From Philly!

Excellent, and thanks everybody! Actually, I live in the Penn Wynne section of Wynnewood, about 5 blocks off City Line Avenue, and about 100 yards from the Delaware County line. I will be in touch!

Hi From Philly!

I've been poking around and posting over the last couple of months and just wanted to stop in and say hello! Two questions though: how do I go about a) changing my username to something other than my name and b) how does one become a member? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Good Winter Boots

I've got to agree 100% with the previous post on the Keen Summit County boots. I bought a pair early last winter, put them through the paces and they've held up wonderfully. I had no need to change the soles. While I don't know if they can keep you comfortable in -35 degrees, I do know that my feet ...

Re: bag within a bag

I recommend keeping at least 1 second, smaller bag inside every BOB, though not only for the reasons posted above. Being married, I would hope that I would have the good fortune to have my wife along with me in an emergency situation. Even if she were not present, I would be happy to have a friend, ...

Re: Regional Emergency Supplies

As for the reference to "other supplies," I was talking about bulk first aid and survival gear for a cheap price - but it was pretty much just a poorly thought out post. One thing that I've found is that you can usually find something for a tenth the price at a place like Home Depot. Like if you wa...

Re: ZS Presents: How to Build Your Bug Out Bag (B.O.B.)

I am new to this site and have read and appreciated A LOT of useful advice. Here's my contribution, only with permission of course. I just haven't seen this mentioned in any thread and think it may make an ENORMOUS difference when it matters most. And this is about survival. That said, when I was co...

Re: Regional Emergency Supplies

Thanks for the advice, Guys! The reason why I was confused is that the wife is a vegetarian (yeah, I know, I know) and I wanted to get some of those Mainstay rations because they are apparently high calorie, non-meat and they last a long time, so she would have something to eat as well until we both...

Regional Emergency Supplies

I'm out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and I wanted to purchase some emergency food rations and other supplies. However, I note that the places I've been seeing on the net are pretty far away from my area. All of them charge for shipping costs, which add up quickly and heftily. I'd much prefer to sp...
