Global Seed Vault - Svalbard

I stumbled across a number of older articles about the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard which do NOT appear to have been shared here before. They explain the efforts being made to preserve the world’s crop diversity. Get the skinny on the story and stare in awe at the awesome photography. http://www.wi...

Re: My tent purchase plan

If you absolutely must have a stove inside your tent then why on earth would you not buy one designed for this purpose e.g. Tipi GoLite Tentipi Kifaru Why I think this is better comes down to the fact that your going to be removing the floor anyway, and most tipis dont have floors in the first place...

Re: Minimalism

His mindset is awesome, choosing items which provide redundancy, telephone is a great example. His choice of clothing is also well thought out and meets his exact demands. More of us should adopt this approach, however there is a line you have to draw when it comes to choosing speed/weight vs durabi...

Great ending!

Exactly how I imagine the real PAW would be for the most part.

Thanks for sharing

Re: "Walking Dead" Cable Series

After watching episode 1 of the new season I have to admit that I'm close to done with the series. It's just way too much of a rehash of the previous seasons. I find it hilarious that they're still making all newcomers to their camp look like complete amateurs! They've survived the same length of ti...

Re: Show off your fire kit!

I have multiple numbers of these fire kits which are added to assorted bag configurations. The kits are built to be multi-functional and capable of starting a fire regardless of season. There are char cloth/fresnel/firesteel options for easy going during dry summer. But there's added security with t...

I'm reminded of that 300kg guy on doomsday preppers with the all the gear, a good property and horrible personal health and fitness. His priorities are all wrong. Is that not the guy who was offered a free gastric bypass + liposuction etc. He refused, and so they came and took his guns since they d...

Re: Stuff or Roll?

I hear this all the way back in the cub scouts. Continually folding equipment the same way will speed up the creation of stress marks in the waterproof fabric, the same will also be true when stuffing. However the random nature of the stuffing means it will take longer for the stress marks to form. ...

Tentsile - How tents designed by ewoks would look!

Hey all, Stumbled across this earlier today and thought some of you may find it interesting, it's called Tentsile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqImIChxJ-E It's essentially a suspended tent, which avoids the rocking and rolling of a hammock by using 3 anchors and a lot of tension. It looks like a ...

Nice post, I put together a similar one a while back: http://zombiehunters.org/forum/viewtopi ... =6&t=87840" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

People seem to forget the importance of items such as salt and other herbs.

Re: Wanna be like Batman: Keysi Fighting Method

As a fairly experienced martial artist, I tried to start a thread to discuss self defense system that I had recently started training in. After going to some classes, I tried to point out some of the merits in training in a system like this and who I thought might benefit and who might not. I have ...

Re: Wanna be like Batman: Keysi Fighting Method

Yes, but anyone who has actually been in a street fight knows that a handful of t-shirt doesn't give you control of anything. It will rip and your hold will be gone as soon as you try anything with it, which is why a big part of adapting BJJ and Judo to self defense (or even MMA) involves changing ...

Can you attempt to explain what the hell the point of the titty-grab technique they kept doing in the video is? Grab the chest, grab the arm. What is the chest grab supposed to accomplish? Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2 I think what they are doing is using to control the distance of the at...

Unless my search-fu is failing me then this has not been posted here yet. I came across this after accidentally ending up on the Equip2Endure website. Re: What would happen to the libraries in a PAW?

I think it all depends on how far into the PAW we are, the severity of the event, and having read the other replies then I'd add the area we live in to this. I think that libraries would remain largely untouched for the most part, until winter that is when locals will be scouring the area for someth...

If the child is not old enough to tell me anything then I'd seriously doubt that they'd be yanking on my door handle, however since that's the question then I'd do the following: 1. Step outside and listen, parents or whoever else is supposed to be looking after this champ is most likely distraught ...

As for orange backpack dude, was that not Rick's mind playing tricks on him? The scene with Rick and Michonne discussing him seeing dead people, and him asking Michonne to drive because of it. I've been getting immensely bored of TWD of late, this last episode was definitely a redeemer for me. So nice to see Morgan come back, they should develop his character further since he brings so much authenticity to the screen than many of the others. He and the governor are an acting league above ...

I dont know how I missed this thread, but wow...really great ideas. The only issue I see here with the use of velcro is the noise that it makes. If you were detained unlawfully then you'd really need to be in a room alone in order to extract your equipment from the belt, the noise of velcro would ha...
