Re: How to discuss terrorism without breaking Rule #7?
Suggestion one: Call terrorists "Terrorists" and leave it at that. You want to talk about how to respond to an incident? awesome. Walk to talk about how to keep the world free from terrorists? This is probably not the place to do that. This. We're not about pointing fingers or finding the root caus...

How to discuss terrorism without breaking Rule #7?
Maybe the mods can help me us out with this. ZS is a survival and prepping forum where (besides zombies) we discuss "SHTF" events in the world that could threaten our safety and how to prepare for it. I hate to harp on this, but here is Rule #7 7.) No debating of politics or religion. To help discou...

Re: How \ Where do you store your magazines?
Since I'm moving soon, I've been going over my storage options and trying to better organize. What I have been storing all my ammo and shooting/outdoor gear in is Steralite (or similar brand) storage totes. The ones I bought have locking handles and are cool tacticool tan colored and are designed t...

Re: Avian Flu in USA
Let me blow some dust off this thread. While checking a yahoo E-mail account that I use as a dump E-mail, I noticed out of the corner of my eye the top 3rd and 4th trending searches were Egypt bird flu and H5N1. Apparently there has been a spike in Bird to Human death there over the last 2 months. A...

In Denial. . . . That will enable the first wave of deaths. . . Too many people living their lives in "condition white". Re: Complete AR-15 rifles brand new for 399.99
I'd like my 2004 and ammo prices back too please. Now that the latest ammo panic seem to be over, and the weather is getting nicer I have been going to the outdoor range and shooting some of my old stock and refreshing it with new ammo. I had a box of 9mm WWB 100 round value pack and a 550 r...

Re: changing car meds
For the record, the other day I had a case of the squirts at work. I went to my car and dug thru my meds to find a blister pack of Imodium. I Took it and within a 1/2 an hour or so everything was much better. Then I looked at the packet ...it expired 2011. I will try to change out my meds more often...

Ditto to what everyone else is saying. It could be a J.C. Higgins tent, which was basically the brand name Sears put on their tents, guns, bikes, and other recreational equipment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._C._Higgins We had a similar canvas tent growing up, and I think my dad bought it at Sears...

This thread inspired me to remove the buttons from all my slouch caps. They were instantly more comfortable. Thanks Dave! How did you remove them without ruining the hat? Yeah, I haven't official tried to do it but just looking at all my ball caps I cant see how you would remove the button without ...

Re: VA Sending Veterans’ Mental Health Information to FBI
I know some folks in the ATF and without giving too much away the illegal gun trade have been recently recruiting Vets at VA hospitals in rural gun "friendly" states to be straw purchasers for urban gang bangers in states with tough gun laws. Its kind of sad. They are taking advantage of Vets in dir...

Is the top of the receiver on that shotgun already drilled and tapped. If so just attach a rail.

Re: Is this enough water for a dayhike?
I'm assuming that is a smaller version of a water cooler jug, Maybe 2.5 gallons and hopefully not one that holds 5 gallons.
If it was a full sized 5 gallon water cooler jug, 5 gallons of water is going to weigh about 43lbs and that is not including the plastic jug and all your other stuff.

Re: Flee the country!
I think fleeing the country for political reasons is different than bugging out from some natural disaster for, though mother nature can cause a lot of trouble, that trouble is not personally directed at you. If fleeing one's political enemies then a plan to get around the check points and border c...

Is it the H&R Pardner Protector or Tactical that looks something like this?

Its a copy of the Remington 870, so some of the accessories that fit on the 870 may fit on the that H&R pump shotgun.

Re: Flee the country!
Actually Ferfal had a good writeup on his blog about that and even published a book (his 2nd). After years of writing about how he was dealing with and surviving the Argentinian currency collapse that started in 2000, he finally decided to leave the country when the government leaned socialist. He t...

Re: The meats most wont eat thread.
Don't forget insects and other bugs. Eating insects can be a much better protein source than hunting and trapping mammals and birds. Just don't eat them raw, cook insects to kill off any parasites and it makes them a lot more palatable. Good thing about insects is they often take a lot less energy ...

No matter what happened in the Freddie Gray death, I do find it amazing the speed of how everything progressed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Freddie_Gray 4/12 - Freddie Gray was arrested. One $5 Bill ???
You may want to update that amount to 2015 prices. The days of using just $5 to buy lunch, get a taxi cab ride, or to buy just enough gas to get you home are long gone my friend. I think having four $5 bills will serve you better.

Re: Neat Electricity free washing machine
I almost want to like it, but looking at the website, I really can't see the advantage of using this over just washing your clothes in a sink or a bucket. The only real useful part of this is if you lack a decent sized clean sink, like at a car camping site, or with an RV, but that is about it. I al...

Re: Using your Vehicle as a Weapon
My younger sister got pulled over and lectured by a LEO on situational awareness for stopping at a red light in Newark, NJ at 0100. By her report he gave her quite a good rundown on the does and don'ts of late night urban driving, obstacle avoidance, possible ambush sites, blocked and unblocked amb...

Yep its getting crappy quick down there. I just got off the phone with my Mother-In-Law who is making preps to take in her brother for a few days. Thanks for bringing up this topic. This is a prepping forum ...
