Re: Pandemic Preparations Influenza, Ebola & Updated for COVID 2019.
Been sterilizing more often now. Had this for nearly a year. It's a portable room UV sterilizer. Need to change the filters in my room air filter. Does it work and what is the radius of effectiveness? Specs say 15sqm or about 161 sq ft. They have bigger models similar to hospital use. I haven't swa...

Sam's Club has a 24hr pass with a 10% service charge. https://help.samsclub.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/279/~/guest-membership I don't have a Sam's or Costco membership (it's just me and my wife for now) so there's not a ton of bulk buying, but... these were posted on Sundays... when do these stores...

I just came from Hawaii yesterday. Costco & Target are out of toilet paper and vitamins. Had to go to an obscure Longs/CVS. Minimal canned goods available in major retailers.
I'm in Manila now. Seems there will be a community quarantine starting sunday.

Sleeping bag. Flashlight. Tea lights or UCO candle lantern. ( Adds heat and light but cqpack a window open.) Get the Mountain House Pro. They're the vacuum packed ones. Would a 12 cooler with solar panel work if in a place that's hot? It should keep contents cool while you're away from the vehicle. ...

Re: Hurricanes 2017
I'm in touch with some friends who now live in Florida. As luck would have it, they were living in New York when Sandy hit. I keep a rotation of the 5gal/20L water jugs. Since there are kids and elderly in the household, lifting the jugs onto a dispenser would be difficult for them so I got the pump...

Testing some of my area lighting & emergency gear. Streamlining most of my gear to run of AA (single cell if possible since this also makes it easier to weed out a bad cell) due to accessibility of power source, ease of charging, and safe chemistry. Good balance of output and runtime as well. • GE E...

I live in a tropical country and even though I do camp and hike, and also visit the US, Canada and The UK often even in winter months, I'm not that versed with RV living in very cold climates.

Just curious, what is your draw toward using sterno instead of one of the superior fuel methods? I can't get refills for the camping gaz stove I use in my disaster kit. Not unless I want to pay for transatlantic shipping. I'm looking for a lightweight, low cost, backup that won't make a mess of my ...

Re: RVs
It reall depends on how many you'll be bugging out. 1-2 people, a pickup with a shell or a van conversion would be enough. I have 2 kids so I need a 4 seater/4 berth. My personal choice is a pickup with a camper that can be loaded into the truck bed with a cassette toilet. The pickup seats 4-5 and t...

The Toyota Sienna has a 4WD model.
It can tow 3500 with the tow package but that's the upper limit.

A Mega Cab pickup perhaps?
I use Honda CRV and I'm waiting for the diesel version to launch locally.
