Re: Fictional consolidation of calibers
Through this statement, I'll assume you don't know jack about what you're talking about, because the ballistics of those three calibers are pretty different. ... It's all about transposing real-life ballistic data into game data. Uh, he is correct, if you care at all about real life ballistics spen...

Re: Would you buy this rifle?
It says it's a blowback action, which the kriss is, but it clearly still has the piston operating rod from the 416.
Seems like a photoshop mashup that doesn't actually take into account how the guns work.

Re: SRD; defend this. please.
Lets ask this: Is there any police dept. in the US that has their officers carry with an empty chamber, and then use racking their handgun as a means of compliance and as a step in force escalation? I doubt it. And I think we can all easily see why, the same logic should apply to shotguns. However,...

Re: SRD; defend this. please.
Just like simply producing a handgun has the very real potential to end an encounter I imagine the implied presence of a shotgun via it racking may work as well. That said putting any real faith in it as a defensive technique is clown shoes. I don't think you can really argue that racking the shotg...

I'm confused...if there was truly a danger why did you go out to the street and get his wife's attention? This couldn't have been handled from the yard? You go out of your way to dehumanize him as well. You call him a 'meth zombie' and bring up dead kittens to accentuate your point. I'm not saying ...

Re: What to carry what to leave
After reading a lot of threads I've noticed that people are either bugging out with a firearm. Having served 9 years in the military and one combat your I feel that many are unprepared for actually having to carry a rifle with a combat load out of ammo ie 210 rounds. The weapon and ammo is going to...

I have a streamlight polytac. So far it has stood up to being on my 300 BLk AR just fine. 1M waterproof. And has a tail cap button that is momentary with a gentle touch or if you push a bit further clicks to stay on. (At least the old model, jsut looked online and the new model looks different.) The...

Re: Amsteel Bracelet?
Amsteel is not really good for uses where knots are used, its best used where it can be rolled on a winch or spliced. I don't think the samthane coating has anything to do with helping hold knots, it's all about abrasion resistance. Crazily you can find a ton of info about amsteel on the Hammock For...

I sometimes just boil water for my food if it doesn't look dirty, to save filtering; pasta goes in as soon as it starts boiling.

Re: Shotgun for HD and BO, you dont feel out-gunned?
Personally I believe 22 lr is the best HD/ Bug out weapon. The round isn't going to over penetrate like a shotgun so you don't have to worry about hurting your family in the next room. It doesn't pack the punch of a 12 gauge but my 22 has 25 rounds that I plan on pumping into any bad doer stupid en...

Re: Shotgun for HD and BO, you dont feel out-gunned?
The 22 is also enough gun to fight off most raiders in a SHTF scenario since we have established it's easier to raid liberals anyway. Trolling is generally frowned on here. If you are being sarcastic it is customary to use a blue text color, though I would still refrain from using political labels i...

Re: Anyone ever give up on a caliber?
To the OP - dude, all you need is a spare barrel and a barrel nut wrench... you can swap it out in 15 minutes. Shoot 5.56 all day long, and when 300 BLK comes back in stock, either swap your barrel back in, or build a new upper around it. Two great calibers ready to rock. I'm looking into it, and i...

Give up as in, stop waiting for ammo to become available and move on to a platform that uses ammo I can actually find.Dave_M wrote:Give up as in?
There are plenty of calibers I used to own a firearm in and currently do not.

Re: Anyone ever give up on a caliber?
I have no desire to start reloading or buying ammo online which makes this caliber pretty much dead to me. That makes no sense. Why not order online? If you're just no longer interested in the caliber, that's one thing, and frankly if you're not shooting subs or reloading, you're probably better of...

Anyone ever give up on a caliber?
I bought a 300 BLK rifle a while ago. The promise of cheaper 300 factory ammo from Remington turns out have become a myth; Remington 115 gr. is no longer produced. I have not seen any ammo in the store to feed my rifle for over a year. I never prepped as deep in this caliber as many would suggest on...

I'm talking purely from a storytelling point of view. I Could also see law and order restored in 72 hours as realistic and everyone waits it out without incident. But that would be boring to read about. I think the moral question here with the wife murderer and how it tarnishes his leadership is a u...

Re: The Unwelcome Sign
I just read this story over the last two days. It's good and entertaining, but it could be so much more. Like much of the post apocalyptic genre writing it stays merely in the realm of pulp fantasy much of the time. The main character is never presented with truly tough choices or made to suffer any...

I've read The MorningStar Strain series, and the book Eden from this publisher.
Good stuff if you like the Zombie genre. Eden was super good and the ending is heartbreaking.
