Re: Baby Monitors

We have had great success with these from Sony for the past five and a half years. Durable, can stand up to being splashed or rained on, and have 9 frequencies to choose from to avoid interference. We ended up with multiple sets, and on occasion used a single transmitter and multiple receivers on t...

Re: Baby Bug Out Bag

We bought a small backpack to use, but never actually use it. Instead I use a sling backpack that was given to us by our son's first doctor when we got his very first checkup. It was a kit put out by Gerber. You can still get it free if the delivery is at a participating hospital. The information is...

Re: alarms/trip wires??

When I was in New Orleans during Katrina, one of the blocks nearby to me had taken corrugated metal roofing that had blown off of sheds and whatnot, and laid it across the street and sidewalk at both ends of the block. To get to the center of the block you had to walk (or drive) over these bent up p...

Re: Keep your teeth in the PAW

About wisdom teeth... My wisdom teeth started to pop at a time when I had no insurance and I sure as hell wasn't going to try to find a dentist through the clinic. For about three years the teeth were partially erupted... sometimes they'd be more pronounced, sometimes the gums would cover them more....

Monoject Needles ("Kitty Harpoons") - Human first-aid use?

A little while back I had a cat who required subcutaneous fluids on a regular basis. Unfortunately the cat ended up passing and I'm left with about 50 of these Monoject 18x1A needles. My ignorance of medical supplies is vast :) Are these of any use for human medical aid? I'm just trying to figure ou...

Re: Beekeeping?

Does the local regulation specify movable "frames" or movable "comb"? If it's the second, then you have it with top bars. It's frames specifically, though not specific about the style of hive used outside of that fact. Seattle - "1. Colonies shall be maintained in movable-frame hives." Pierce Count...

Re: Beekeeping?

Since this thread has been revived... I know it's a hassle, but don't forget to check the local regulations regarding beekeeping. There are often rules regarding what constitutes a nuisance as well as other miscellaneous regulations you're supposed to follow (like how far your hives have to be from ...

Re: Gauging interest, firearms training

I'd love to get in on this if it happens. My firearm experience is pretty limited compared to a lot of folks and I'd like to change that (I'd like to get into hunting at some point) and figured it wouldn't hurt to have someone with more experience help me out. I currently own an Enfield that I picke...

I would take my ukulele. I actually bought a a cheap-y uke to take with me when I flew on business trips - something I wouldn't have to worry about too much if it got scuffed and if it broke completely I'm only out $30. I just shove it in the bungee-cord pouch on my backpack and carry it on, it's ve...
