Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Bought more freeze dried ration packs, and got my wife to go the same. There was a coupon for $30 off of you spend $99, and free shipping.
Great to get her involved.

Yeah, I have that one and I love it. Rubber seals mean I can keep some fuel in it.
Trangia makes a really sweet set though...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Finally dealing with the balance of pain vs meds, and physio and am reorganizing our preps as we are building a house on a half acre. Surveyor comes to mark the house site next week. Bought 2 new Lifestraws, a pair of canteens to go on our 58 webbing, a saddlebag for our new pup. I noticed a lot of ...

You are absolutely right. She is on board with most preps anyways.
She loves the idea of having a safe and secret place to store our stuff and keep safe in an emergency.
Surveyor is coming next week to mark the house site, septic, etc.

New home

We are building 105 sqm on a half acre. worm.farm.for.poop, setting up an orchard in the leachfield, lots of gardens and chickens, maybe a pair of sheep. It is my plan to slowly put in a "man cave" that can eventually double as a secret safe room. 5 ft of soil overhead. Build out of 50,000 L plastic...

Funny how the body craves what it needs? Make sure you stay off anti-inflammatory meds, they slow down the bone healing by something like 70%, but don't quote me on that number...

Re: M.V.I. graphic photos.

Well, I want a small well organized kitchen that I can work in when I feel good. Lots of stools like the Wobble Stool that let me work without straining my bad leg. Overhanging counters.
Hopefully I get my new pain med this week. I miss sleep. I hate always feeling half cracked...

I am about to start Sativex, an oromucousal cannabinoid tincture. There is also Ketamine infusions, a Spinal Cord Stimulator implant, more hydrotherapy, Calmare (not available here) . There are not many more medications and to be honest, I don't want to go on any more. Sativex 's side effects are th...

Re: M.V.I. graphic photos.

There was a gentleman in the UK who designed a guillotine of sorts to remove his CRPS affected leg. Unfortunately the pain is neurological and thus removing the limb does nothing.... I have considered it many times......

I can't feel it but balance enough on it to walk with a cane... the pain is mind blowing though. Have a look at CRPS on the McGill pain scale. On my good days it feels like someone is throwing petrol onto my burning leg. I sickened by the amount of narcotics they have me on and am coming off them on...

Re: M.V.I. graphic photos.

Almost 3 years on. I can't feel my leg, kinda like when it goes to sleep ales it hard to wake. My knee is constantly full of broken glass that tries to escape during bad barometric changes or stress. The scars burn in he wind, from being touched and just in general. The limb feels like it's burning ...

New Zealand Licensing?

Hello, My wife and I are moving, and while she has a job, I have some time before I can return to school thanks to a bum leg.... I thought I would try to get my Amateur Radio License in the meantime. I would like to build from a kit. I am kind of lost in the jargon, trying to decipher what I need to...

Re: The Unwelcome Sign

I read this thread over the last 2 days, I had a lot of time as I traveled to and from the pain clinic, 800 km north of me. Was a great distraction from the turbulence and pressure changes that so quickly debilitate me. It has had me at the edge of the seat nonstop. I too now join the MOAR zombies.....

It's official. I am part zombie now. They grafted an achilles tendon from some dead guy onto my LCL. I am home now, in immense pain. Oxycontin barely takes the edge off.
But hopefully in another few months my knee will function slightly better....

Re: Coconut oil covers lots of bases

Perhaps not some cooking, but I use it in baking and chocolates and dressings. I wouldn't use it to replace all the oils in my cupboard, but my cupboard does have quite the international selection. It depends on what I am cooking/baking/making as to what oil I will use. Sesame oil, Canola oil, Sunfl...
