Re: Doomsday Bunkers 3part series

Northwest Shelter Systems is one of the better shelter designers in the world, your commenting that they need to stick with building mobile homes is rather uneducated. Those filters are designed to be able to hold radioactive particles safely, even in the dinning room as long as you don't break the...

THE DINING ROOM! You pay 100s of thousands and you wind up getting irradiated at the dinner table. The dude who designed that "shelter" should stick with his day job build...

Re: Doomsday Bunkers 3part series

I don't understand why they used steel plate for the structure of that "Survival Expert's" underground honkey paradise.

I'd think that for that application, poured reinforced concrete would be better and cheaper.

Shooting unsuspecting employees with a robotic airsoft gun, I hope that's fake.

I hate this show as much as the equally contrived Sons of Guns!

Didn't think these zombie had superstrength, ripping open someone's chest barehanded is impossible for a skinny dude like Carl's playmate.

I think Carl's going to be mental from the guilt.

Re: "Walking Dead" New Cable Series

I really hated how this episode was edited, they kept abruptly cutting back and forth between violent zombat and domestic drama. The rapid changes in pacing was disconcerting. :x

Moras don't cut firm foods like apples or uncooked potatoes very well, they act more like splitting wedges in those items.

Re: Knifecare and Food Prep

I think the standard Opinel is a pretty good eatin' knife, it's got that pairing knife blade shape. http://img.ymlp.com/cyat_opinelknivesgroup.jpg Their blades are thinly ground and are made of decent steel, XC90 (1095) for the carbon ones and Sandvik 12C27M for the stainless. And best of all, they'...

Anybody else notice the The Omega Man reference?

Daryl pouring sardine juice out into the thrash is an exact copy of something Neville does at 0:30:10 in the 1971 classic.

Geez, I'm such a geek!

1095 is great, if that's what you like stick with it! It's probably the easiest resharpen. You might want to protect it from rusting with a phosphate finish (Parkerizing) or rust bluing.

Re: *** Free Audio Books

Many Public Libraries subscribe to one or more downloadable audiobook services that provide access to thousands of free audiobooks to their card holders. I've got library cards for three local library systems so I've got a pretty good selection. Compared to audible.com's $15-$30 prices, free is pret...

The stock 12" Barong, properly sharpened, makes for a kind of cheap and cheerful landscaping and gardening tool but put a 5 or 6" sharpened false edge on it and it becomes a fighter called Ragnar.
