Re: Tornados in the Midwest--anyone witness these?

Local news has been carrying this live for over an hour. I have family in that area but they are all okay. I can't believe what I'm seeing on the tv, Moore is not just destroyed, it is gone. I wish I could go right now and help out some way. Right now they need hands, there is so much debris to get ...

Re: World War Z movie - Brad Pitt and Paramount! W000T!

Hard to tell anything from the trailer. Looks like a bunch of ants with their body climbing pyramids. Definitely looks like they are going for "28 days later" or "I am legend" Zombie type. Yeah, I can see that too. Although if they can ant pile like that, how come they can't get over the Wall? I've...

Re: Snow-maggedon 2013

Been following this thread for the last few days, to get "real-deal", "I'm in the middle of all this" info. As a lifelong Minnesotan, let me say, Holy Shit. We've had our blizzards and snow storms here, and to an extent we're used to it. But damn. That much in that short timespan? And in areas that...

Re: Snow-maggedon 2013

Uh, so, anyway. The plows here did a bangup job with this storm. I really have to take my hat off to them. They had us practically plowed out long before the snow stopped falling and winds died down. What's more, they were double up with their efforts to keep coming by and help move snow people were...

Re: Snow-maggedon 2013

We have drifts, drifts, drifts, so it's hard to get an accurate depth, but on average the snow is about half a foot away from the window line on my car. So I guess, what's that, 2.5, almost 3 feet? But some of that is drift. Uneventful night though. Back edge should be out to sea by 5pm. Then it's N...

Re: Snow-maggedon 2013

So far so good. Got about 5 inches I guess, over about 5 hours. It was snowing starting about 9am eastern, but barely got a dusting, wasn't til 2pm that it started to pick up. Wind is... well, couldn't fly a kite in it. Yet. I'm just sadly watching my car get buried and wishing that somebody digs it...

Re: Prepping in NYC

Good article there. Bike Snob NYC had a link to it today and a paragraph which I thought was entertaining. Also the snow bicycle - a bike with snow tires which are wide and extreme looking, for getting through that rough weather back East. The blurb is at the end of his article. http://bikesnobnyc....

Re: New NBC drama: Revolution

I finally got to see the series start to finish. The comment I made several pages back, about hygiene or whatnot, I was hot off of Falling Skies. So that was my frame of reference for something that looked pretty similar (vanilla, apocalypse-lite, centered around teenagers). The magic amulet: Well, ...

I drive around some more. I find another power truck. The lineman says it was a broken crossmember. I observe there is no ice, snow nor downed branches. I ask him how it happened. He just shrugs an says "Mayan Apocalypse." 5:20am EST here and I'm still here. Throwing on my pants and running ...

Re: ONLY 1 DAY LEFT 'TILL THE END OF THE WORLD! ARE YOU SCAR

I just read that Vinnie from "Jersey Shore" has officially debunked the apocalypse. We'll all sleep sound tonight. Also an expert from Cornell University has reiterated it will not be raining jaguars tomorrow. All good news! I think I may go in to work early tomorrow. Just for shits and giggles.

So, I'll ask the same question here- lets say the world DOES end on the 21st- what are you gonna do about it? You have ten days left to get ready! (no pressure or anything) Die? :D Well if the world is really kaput over and finished, I'm going to work as usual, except I'm going in a clown wig and s...

Continue to lose weight. Already down about 30 pounds this year just gotta keep at it. Start getting into the gym and toning up. Move to LA. Marry my girl. Finish my engineering degree. Get more involved in the film industry. Try to get out and meet more people beyond just my small circle. Try to be...

Re: ONLY 10 DAYS LEFT 'TILL THE END OF THE WORLD!

I have said it before and I will say it again. I have conclusive proof the world will not end prior to 2014. My AMEX credit card does not expire until then. technically Brad Pit suppose to incarnate the "invisible character" from WWZ , the character who collected all those story from the survivor from the point of view of a viewer not a actor. so by using Brad Pit they break the purpose of that guy who suppose to incarnate us, the spectator, a person w...

Man, wild ride yesterday and last night. We had pouring rain when I left for work this morning, then blue skies, then clouds, repeat repeat repeat. It's now about 70 degrees and rather pleasant. I haven't seen any severe damage. Mostly trees down, trash strewn about, trees stripped of leaves, all th...

Re: Hurricane Sandy - the next "perfect storm"?

Sun is coming up. We'll soon see what the damage is like in NYC and areas. Didn't lose power last night. I was lucky. Everyone around me seemed to have no power. It never flooded near me but it flooded elsewhere, but those waters have mostly receded here. Lots of fire calls last night for fires, roo...
