Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Okay, so what's the best way to get your barrel nut to cooperate and index correctly? The previous notch is too loose, but I can't get it all the way past the next one, close, but like a quarter-notch short. Any ideas?

Re: Aurora Colorado Movie Theatre Massacre during movie.

If it is true about how he accomplished the massacre (as I posted above) how many screens does the theatre have and how did he know which one was showing the movie and which exit to park close to? That's some frikkin' planning right there. He must've been working on this one for weeks. A lot of the...

Re: Aurora Colorado Movie Theatre Massacre during movie.

I'm totally in agreement with the first couple of sentances, but several witnesses reported the gunman has being "freakishly calm" throughout the thing. It's possible he was the kind of crazy that wouldn't stop until he either got what he wanted out of the situation (and then gave up to police) or ...

Re: Aurora Colorado Movie Theatre Massacre during movie.

I'm with Doc here. Keep shooting until you get the desired response. This guy GAVE UP once the cops showed up. Imagine his response to return fire. I believe even misses would have caused this coward to give up the fight. Criminals are cowards preying on defenseless folks. Don't be defenseless, eve...

Re: Aurora Colorado Movie Theatre Massacre during movie.

Up until a week ago, my son lived about 4 miles from this theatre and could very likely have been there.

It just gives me the willies.

Also remember that there's no rule that says you can't have not-breakfast food for breakfast. I've eaten salads, soups and leftover dinners for breakfast several times before.

Re: My Paleo Diet Blog

I think you'll see much better results in your afternoon energy levels if you eat more fat and protein for breakfast and just ditch the bread. It's convenient, for sure, but I think you'll be really pleased with the results if you can get rid of it for 30 days. Probably pleased enough to stay away ...

I've managed to keep the weight off too, without much effort. Occasionally I cheat on my sugar intake, but I feel like I've been doing pretty darn well keeping to quality meats and lots of vegetables, even while on vacation and such. The wife keeps saying I look better and better all the time, but I...

Re: Dear Punk at Publix who tried to run me over.

Seems like a number of these incidents happen when crossing in front of traffic of some kind. Could it be that they get agitated because you're making them wait (or slow down or whatever)? Or maybe that they think you're taking you sweet time to cross as some kind of "power struggle" because you hav...

Re: Reflections on Self Defense and Martial Arts classes

I've had some recent family drama that gave me a different take on "Todd". This is my cousin, let's call him "Ivan", and he might we be even scarier than Todd. My cousin Ivan lives in rural Southern Oregon and is a dangerous guy. His girlfriend recently broke up with him, so he's in a constant state...

I think if I would cut out beer entirely I would another 15 pounds quickly but shit--I love beer. Noteworthy that Bud Select 99 has roughly the same alcohol content as Bud light but with half the carbs (only 11 calories less but I don't count calories whatsoever). Re: Dealing with a knife threat

I'd like to point out the significant difference between the first video and pretty much all videos showing "knife fighting techniques". While I admire and respect the amount of training and knowledge shown by the people in the Kali video for example, there are some things to consider IM v HO: - At...

Re: Dear Punk at Publix who tried to run me over.

He just wanted to scream at someone. This is so true of these kinds of incidents. It's never, ever about "you", it's about them and their feeling of impotence at the world. RG said it well too, the guy probably had a bad day made worse by some bad decisions. These poor bastards are more deserving o...

Before I started training in martial arts (and before I started shooting), I was way more afraid of guns than knives. Now, it's the complete opposite. They completely scare the shit out of me too.

A Dissy (short for "Dissapator", the original name Bushmaster called the style) is a 16" barreled AR with a carbine or midlength gas system (originally carbine) under a rifle length non free-floated handguard, with an A2 front sight.
