Re: Top Shot Reloaded

Last few episodes I've actually been rooting for Jay. I was getting a kick out of the fact that a few elitist pricks were making a big deal of him not being military, but he kept winning, fucked up stances and all. At this point, I don't care who wins, as long as it's not the douchenozzle "sniper" ...

Instant BOB - just add water! I try to leave the essentials in my BOB alone.

Re: Do your cars/trucks have a spare tire?

Both of my BOV's have full size spares that I rotate with the other 4 so there is no fear of dry rot. I also have an on-board air compressor and tire repair kit.

Re: Lessons learned from Snowpocalypse

I learned that having capable 4X4 vehicles (Hummers) with excellent tires, recovery gear, and necessary preps puts you in control in a somewhat chaotic situation. AWD minivans or crossover SUV's are okay when it's a little slick, but when the snowplows can't keep up and the roads are rutted with ber...

Re: What did you today for your BOV/how did you prepare your

Added a basket to the empty portion of my roof rack. That's it loaded up if need be with 2x 1650 (nothing in them yet) and a 20L NATO pre-CARB water and gas can. http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab306/wesleycatig/FJ/scaledCIMG_2011-02-11-153009.jpg Very nice! I have, and it's not that bad. It's not Perrier either. As stated before, even with treated water, you need a little chlorine to keep algae from growing in your water jug.

Re: New Scepter Military Water Jugs: Advice Needed

I do have the Scepter fuel cans, but I don't put water in them. That gasoline taste would be hard to mask. Where did you get them? I could really use a pair of these gas cans for far-backwoods expeditions! I'll send you a PM with my source. They are pricey and rare as hen's teeth since the CA...

Re: Off Road Driving Simulation

I don't think any video game .. sorry, simulation.. is going to prepare you for off road driving. It's a physical response sort of skill. You can't how to play baseball from a video game either. You go do it and that's it. The only reason there are simulations for real "skills" are for processes th...

I had a '94 Wrangler soft top and loved it. My only issue was payload and towing capacity - it tops out pretty quick compared to other vehicles in its class.

Re: New Scepter Military Water Jugs: Advice Needed

I am using several of these containers: I use 1 tsp of chlorine bleach per 5 gallon container to prevent algae growth. While I could probably go one year, I flush and refill my containers about every six months. You use fuel cans? For water? What shape are those fuel cans in? I'll trade you some wa...

Gaiters are the bomb! I've got a set in my BOB. Combined with a decent waterproof hiking boot, you've got a good pair of snow boots.

Re: Tired survival cliches

Okay, new topic. "Chrome won't get you home." You may see that tired, old cliché used when referring to a BOV that has chrome wheels or a shiny grille. Did I miss the memo? Does a totally blacked-out vehicle guarantee survival in the PAW? Are zombies drawn to chrome like a moth to a flame? While I d...

Re: Tired survival cliches

Oh, I make a point to call it a magazine too, but I'm not going to get all bent out of shape if someone says clip when they mean magazine. Which is strange, because I'm usually a smug know-it-all. Yeah, I'm not an asshole about it either. I don't go around correcting people. That's just rude. Good ...
