Re: Ambidextrous (or left handed) inexpensive semi auto?

As a cross dominate (left eye / right hand): AR-15 - BCM ambi charging handle, Troy ambi mag release, and a Magpul BAD lever with a standard right hand upper with brass-defector = good to go. Use trigger finger for safety. Slickside (non-brass deflector) uppers brass will hit your shoulder or right ...

Re: How many rifle magazines for a get-home kit?

What about a Pistol Caliber Carbine like a Sub-2000? Pistol with mag + Sub-2000 in discrete carry + 1 spare mag = way more than you probably will ever need.

Re: No Guns here

Easiest alternative to a gun would be a crossbow, and the ammo is reusable. Two quick questions on the whole premise, (1) Why would anyone nuke Scotland? (2) Why would anyone invade Scotland? I mean, Clyde has the naval base, but what else is there really work a nuke? If England got schwacked by nuk...

Duh, a MK44 ATK 30mm Chaingun running HEI (High Ex Incendiary) primary belt with APFSDST (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot Tracer) on the second belt for harder targets. Good for reaching out +2200 yards, you would only need 1 round per target. Oh, and they already have the remote turr...

Garbage when it first came out, still garbage after the recall. If is squeaky clean, I would maybe trust it for like 50 - 100 rounds if it didn't blow in the first mag.
My experience is working at a FFL (dealer)

Re: 6 inch Talo Gp100 on the way...

With the Weigland mount, you will need rings for a Picatinnny / Weaver base. Will likely require medium height to clear a 32mm objective (front) lens on that scope. I strongly recommend a mount like the Warnes (part number 201S) 1" medium silver ring or a Weaver Quad Lock 1" Medium Ring (p/n 49055)....

Re: Re-Evaluating Woods Defensive Loads

I have shot 40SW and 357 mag but never 10 mm, 45 super, or 357 SIG. My honest opinion is why not buy one of those SERBU 12 ga shotguns. The ammo is gonna be way cheaper and it's really not that much bigger than a handgun but with more power. https://tse3.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.YNn_NdCB9qNldrCbsNh7Tw...

Re: Re-Evaluating Woods Defensive Loads

As a lifelong Alaskan in the gun business, what ever you buy, make sure you practice with it and are proficient carrying it . I carry a 10mm and boat load of 357s, with a proper load (Buffalo Bore, HSM Bear Load, Underwood) they are more than adequate to stop Grizzly and Moose. With a 357 Mag you ca...

Re: My Sidearm Choice - The CZ 75!

Just as a heads up, the P-07 uses an Omega type trigger, if you are comfortable taking on apart, the Cajun Gunworks kits are great. I run one with a short reset kit on my SP-01, absolutely fantastic reset with a very crisp pull and double action. Congrats on the new CZ, best kept secret in 9mm. Edit...

Re: Disaster in Santiago, Chile

Realistically they should /would have issued a boil water notice if they have the capability to still deliver water. Last resort, issuing containers of bleach and eardroppers to sterilize the water would be way more practical than trying to truck in water for that many people. Ballpark say 3L water ...

Re: So what endangered round is going to outlive you?

35 Whelen, 358 Winchester (seriously, hanging around with 2 factory loads), 455 Webley, 7.62mm Mauser would all be better choices for endangered cartridges that will probably linger around for another 60 years.

New Can - Need Help with Performance Issues

I just got a stamp in for a shiny new can, and I have some severe mounting and performance issues I could use your help with. The can is from a company called Mir, I was attracted to its very good price and very light weight. I definitely am running subsonic (10" 300 Blackout 230gr). The can doesn't...

Buy a Ruger LCR revolver in .357 Magnum. Load 158gr hollow points (good stuff - Gold Dot Short Barrel, Hydra-Shock, etc) for lighter (sub-400 pound) animals.

Re: .357 Magnum or .38spl?

This has been my exact experience. I have owned many revolvers, especially .38 specials and 357 magnums, and the two I still own: S&W 442 (Aluminum frame, 38 Special, 1-7/8" barrel) S&W 686 (Stainless steel, 357 Magnum, 6" barrel) Anything shorter than 6" in a 357 magnum really suffers, ballistical...

Re: .357 Magnum or .38spl?

Generally, the heavier bullets will loose less muzzle velocity / muzzle energy with a shorter barrel than the lighter bullets. Check out the ballistics by the inch website. Lots of good info. Regarding muzzle blast and flash, if I had to pick a round for shooting out of a short 2-3" barreled .357 Ma...

Re: Saiga .223 and AR Mag Adapter

I am in the same boat as the OP. Saiga 5.56mm NATO are a total PITA to find, and run $30-40 where I live. AR 5.56mm mags are everywhere for less than $20. Promags are pretty much useless for everything but range mags - the feed lip at the front broke of on all 6 of my Promags (if I had ANY local alt...

Re: How would you build a hunting rifle package? ($1250 budg

OP probably already has a package by now, but I would go with Tikka T3 Superlite Stainless in .30-06, .300Win Mag, or .300WSM ~$7-800, includes rings. A Standard T3 in .300 Win Mag and Stainless Steel would be closer to the $675 to $725 range. Nikon Monarch or Leupold 3-9x44mm or 4-16x44mm scope $20...

Re: Anyone choose a NON semi auto rifles for shtf?

I could see a Mosin being an excellent BOL or cabin rifle for out in the Bush - cheap, chromed bore and bolt, laquered moisture-resistant ammo capable of taking anything that walks within 200 yards. I have never had a problem with sticky bolts on my Mosins (2 of em) but that is possible because I de...

Re: Most useful screwdriver bits?

Just an fyi, you can take a cheap bit driver extension and grind in down on two opposite sides to fit the Leatherman bit holder.
That way you can use standard bits with your Leatherman. See below.
