Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

A letter from a 21-year-old Greek: It feels like an end. The end of our lives as we knew them. Yes, the lives that, before Friday, we already thought could be better; now we realise they were better then. The only thing we truly wish for is that the worst is not yet to come. QFT... ! Almost $3 tril...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

Zero if you do not like this thread / are not interested in it, why not just, you know, not read or post in it? I'll assume that wasn't a subtle "go away" and answer literally. To be clear * the idea of keeping track of financial issues is of interest to me * the idea of keeping track of current di...

However, we pulled out. That issue has "ended." Yes, the financial industry is still doing the same stuff. Yes, there is likely to be another issue in the future, but the immediacy of the issue is over and it will take another build up and meltdown before we see another substantial issue and there ...

Re: Disposable Lighters. The Big Lie?

I did have one fail 'explosively' on me... I was tapping out a pipe and it split right up the side... made a little woosh and was over before I knew it. No harm done. I buy in bulk when they go on sale and typically carry 'pocket' 'pack' 'fak' and 'kitchen' lighters when I'm out adventuring. I prefe...

Re: Saudi Arabia, Allies Attack Yemen

stratfor:Who controls Yemen Analysis While the al-Houthi movement struggles to manage multiple regional challenges in northern Yemen, its rise to power is a setback for Saudi Arabia. After the fall of the Yemeni government, Riyadh will have to capitalize on the al-Houthis' need for political and fi...

Funny when I check a map I don't see a Weimar Republic anywhere...

FWIW you are probably better off to use Hungary as an example than the nation who's economic troubles led to a globe spanning conflict that killed 3-4 % of the global population.

But it has happened.. Not every collapse is all the way back to the stone age.. Recession and depression are just terms for economic trends. It does not seem to be a serious danger to me. I'm glad your semantic arguments give you peace, however I suspect you are just taking comfort from your own co...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

I think this thread needs to be here to remind us all to be wary of both the "doom and death" merchants as well as the " Nothing to see here because everything is normal...Hey look over there a squirrel!" merchants. The collapse has been many times in the last 5 decades. It has not happened yet, bu...

I agree with Raptor's points. Enrichment activities, competition (in games, in gathering rare items), play... I think these are all things that would make humans more resilient. And, well, I'd hate to think that we'd be out-thought by rats. Though we might be. :) The population densities of slums a...
