Re: ZS Hot or Not: Knives Edition

Just got 2 new knives 1. Rat 1 Positives- came very sharp, blade has a good belly for slicing and is FFG, AUS 8 is a decent steel in the price range, blade is well centered and there is no movement. Negatives- thumbstuds seem misplaced meaning it's a lot harder to open than my spyderco or kershaw k...

I do like the bigger blade, but it looks like I have a giant .... thing... in my pants. At all times. I've been thinking I need a smaller one so it is less noticeable.
Actually they DO make a no.13 size blade!

Well we were talking about field use ...... Your not wrong though if you have your fashion critic hat on ,,, I think just like any aggressive pattern like cheetah or tiger , zebra or cow you would need to use sparingly or look questionable which is its own look I suppose. However theres also a reaso...

Re: Entrek Knives anyone?

The sheaths work ... how bad they are is overstated. IMO However there is much room for improvement. Belt clip is riveted on and not detachable. .thr rivets are also not spaced for a molle clip and rhe belt clip is conservatively sized. They do work though and with nice retention from what Ive seen.

Re: Zippo lighters.

And I still want to try the infamous Thunderbird butane inserts for Zips. They seem like they would solve the evaporation problem quite neatly. I had one briefly, and it was the worst piece of junk I had ever owned in my entire life. The cam was totally unreliable and the lighter only ignited about...

Re: The LMF II, A review

Hmm, according to your review the blade is both 12c27 and 420HC :) The steel changed due to availability, from what I'm told. The exotic stuff they started with was crazy expensive, and not easy enough to get to support the demand, nor was it all that much better that I'm aware of. The steel they u...

He marks everything as tools - I got a bunch of stuff from him including a pry bar - no probs from Aus customs.

I picked up a leatherman charge TTI from ebay for around 70$ delivered internationally , had no probs at all. Sure beats paying $300 or whatever insane price they try and sell them for locally.

Seriously ? The esee 4 is not in the same class as the BK2. Maybe compare the esee 5 to the BK2 and your in business. Not to knock the Esee 4 at all , but its not equal to the BK2 -- maybe closer to a Fallkniven F1 ? ( I mostly mean in dimensions here ) Maybe pare the Bk2 with a swiss army knife ? I...

Re: Gear whores, here's $1000 of my money.

The clothes & boots are your personal choice. I would avoid nylon or 100 % polyester , may work fine in North America , but you will sweat your hole out here in OZ. And be rather uncomfortable to boot. You might get a way with loose trousers but a nylon shirt . You will do ok I think with the C...
