Chemicals and food storage?

Hey guys, I made a 1 week disaster kit a number of years ago that had bathroom stuff, soaps, canteens, filtration gear, clothes, blankets, etc all in one giant tub. Long story short, I popped it open today to rotate out some items and immediately noticed that the raisins tasted like soap. :? They we...

Re: Gun Rattle?

It was the grip safety, I taped it down and carried it for a few days without any noise. I'd rather have the additional safety in spite of the noise so I'm just dealing with the noise now. It'll be getting replaced by a Boberg XR45 shortly anyway.

Re: Gun Rattle?

Do you carry cocked&locked or chamber empty? I carry my g19 quite a bit mex-carry but I leave chamber empty and practice Israeli draw. 1911 gets carried cocked&locked in a holster...they don't have enough ammo the way it is much less sacrificing one. I carry with one in the camber. It's a Gold Cup....

Gun Rattle?

Anyone else deal with a gun that won't stop rattling as you walk? I've been Mexican carrying my Colt GC for awhile now and the sound is really noticeable. I don't think it's much of an issue as far as other people identifying the noise as a gun but, it does drive me insane sometimes.

Re: Selling AK to consolidate to 5.56?

The market is flooded with black rifles right now and ammo is still pricey for the AR. I don't see a reason to sell.

ETA: Doh, you already have a gunsafe. :P

Re: ares huskey sling

I ran mine on Knight's QD sling attachments that came with the SR-15. I wanted it to sit as high as possible so I attached the sling to the URX II QD point right in front of the receiver and the LMT SOPMOD's rearmost QD attachment. The huskey is a nice sling but, I would have to lift the butt stock ...

Re: H&K G36/293 rifle to be imported to the USA.

The height over bore of the G36 has always worried me. Is there a "last word" in who makes the best left-side-charging AR components? Didn't Germany field some G36's with a rail on top instead of the goofy looking carry handle/optic ? Maybe HK will import some with that instead of the usual sights....

Re: H&K G36/293 rifle to be imported to the USA.

Well, if we can finally get a semi-auto Tavor in the US, I don't see why we couldn't be able to get a semi-auto G36 (in standard form and not the neutered version HK brought out a few years back). Of course, HK could decide to be a bunch of jerks and say "Well, it'll be a Euro only release." The Ge...

H&K G36/293 rifle to be imported to the USA.

Apparently H&K got approval from the Germans to export/sell the G36 rifles to civilians. Pretty cool piece, I'd love to pick one up on the small chance that it comes stateside. Not holding my breath but, the internet seems to think it's going to happen. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013...

Far less hassle to just buy a transferable MG08 if you feel like you have the need for a water cooled weapon, probably cheaper in the long run too. Only ~$10k.

-snip- 23" from a 16.5" barrel. Say wahhhhhhh. I'm a fan of the 40-55gr for 5.56 Nato as well due to its massive wounding abilities. Here is the 50gr TSX from Black Hills. http://www.ar15.com/ammo/project/Self_Defense_Ammo_FAQ/DocGKRData/223%20Barrier%20Rounds.htm Military loadings are a joke in co...

Re: Toyota Tundra....with a Cummins?

I doubt you'll ever see a CAT engine in a small truck, CAT doesn't even build their own large truck engines anymore. They use Navistar engines. CAT engines, quite frankly, aren't what they used to be. Their last try with the ACERT line lost them a lot of followers. Toyota has such an awesome resour...

I'm not even sure what the hell the argument is anymore. That your ballistics are slightly different or that your ballistics are the only correct ones or that you are the best shooter and hunter around and have better equipment and more money wrapped up in glass than anyone else has in their safe? ...

If the calcs are off then I'll send in an error report to JBM. Not bothering with the rest since it's not something I've brought up. Hunting? Never mentioned. Competing in matches? Also not mentioned. If you want to argue with yourself that's fine. Great entertainment. And now I *know* you're full ...

Your calcs are off for the Sierra 175 matchking , and AGAIN you sidestep the issue of setting your dope in a field environment , don't even bother with an attempt to argue the point. Re: Best SHTF Rifle for the money

Still waiting to hear why thousand-yard competition shooting is important in a SHTF rifle. It is a 1000 yard round and bucks win better than 5.56 nato. Just like I claimed. Shooting known distance when the only pressure is competition and you can make wind adjustments on the fly and only have to wo...

Nobody is getting butthurt, we're wondering why you keep bringing up competition distance shooting in a SHTF rifle thread. I've yet to mention SHTF. My first post mentioning 1000 yards was in response to a price benefit analysis of the round/weapon system in comparison to 5.56. Not terrible conside...
