Re: Worst SHTF Handgun

For me, the worst handgun is the Beretta 92f. I hated this pistol in the navy. It jammed when I needed it. And I have heard the high "break" rate with field use. They are inside the house type of pistols in my opinion. They just collapse with any type of ware or debris. I fell in love with glock, bu...

Re: What to look for in a budget shotgun for home defense?

I don't know how everyone else feels about what kind of shot you want to push out of the barrel inside a home- But in my opinion- If you are ever anticipating firing a shotgun inside your home for defense, you should look at how your house is layed out. If you have small pets, kids, etc things that ...

Re: a "backup weapon"?

Hi, I am a former sailor and spent a little bit of time as a boatswain, and know what a monkey fist can do... overall a monkey fist idea isn't bad at all and you can defiantely mess someone or something up with a medium sized knot that has been water soaked and dried numerous times. But is it a prac...

Re: Reload carbine or transition to a pistol at close range?

I have always been trained to transition if I am within effective range of my sidearm. Regardless of where I am and what is going down. If I'm dry, I am dry and I need to have the option of putting rounds down range to give me time to maneuver and bring my primary back online. Now in a close quarter...

I am an operations manager for a Navy Base club and I take care of day to day operations for our Wolfgang Puck's Cafe. I help with the barista work and tweek things here and there - and I love me some coffee. Esspresso machines come in every shape and size just like in comparison to firearms... you ...

Trying to hook up internet in my apartment in Japan. -PS3: Ghost Recon Future Soldier has my attention fully right now; I was playing skyrim but I have to get the update because of the - controller throwing frustrating lag  - or CTFL syndrome. Waiting on the new Assassin's Creed to c...

Re: new-ish shooter looking for help with pistol technique

^^^^^^ What that guy said, sounds like you are anticipating a recoil. You might be trying to compensate for the bang before it happens which means you can be jerking the trigger. When you are using a pistol or any non mounted weapon for that matter, you should not ever anticipate when the gun goes b...

Re: PLR-16 Discussion... Any and all input appreciated

I just wanted some opinions and hard facts about this gun lol.

I do not own one, and I was interested in this one because overall keltec has had decent reviews on their products.

it is somewhat decently priced and easy to modify for a stow and go protection piece in my opinion.

PLR-16 Discussion... Any and all input appreciated

I did a search and didn't see anything on this and I would like to know the thoughts of everyone please. So the KelTec PLR-16, from factory looks is not to pretty but has the potential for a nice urban friendly "rifle". http://www.keltecweapons.com/uploaded_files/ourguns/gallery/b_7b9e48a1a2d2e4314d...

Re: .22 good for small game?

I was drool- I mean looking at my wish list of things I am going to buy when I eventually get back into my great state of Texas, and I was looking over KelTec some more. They offer the PLR-22 that looked somewhat decent, but if you are country set I would stick with something a little longer maybe? ...

I live overseas also in Japan, and have thought about this myself. However China is a little more hostile right now towards foreigners than Japan is... In the event of a break down or an epidemic- I would think you would see the signs before a quarantine. Go to your embassy immediately before everyt...

Re: SHTF Supplements a good idea?

In my opinion... I think having a supplement that doesn't sustain you, but helps you transition is a great idea. If you... are working out and on a plan at the gym and are taking protein and supplements to bulk or build muscle- I wouldn't think that is a logical lifestyle if shtf or an end of the wo...

 This is fun stuff. Re: Civilian SERE training?

SERE is mainly for mental preparation on what to expect if you are captured or fall into enemy hands... So I am not asking- why you would need this training as a civillian? But I think if you look into some of the corporate name brand companies that do tactical workshops, you might dig up something ...

Did you do any FAST stuff or counter piracy in the Marines? I did 4 years of counter piracy in 7th fleet. Are you asking for some advice for what to bring for Africa? Or what to bring for your job? I know what job you are talking bout somewhat, I don't know company names and things and I am sure you...

Re: Help with a knife ID, please...

That emblem is peculiar... It has a half wreath with a moored foul anchor and what appears to be a kukri pointing up. Most dagger or knifes that point up usually mean SF, but with the fouled anchor attached it would be something similar to a foreign navy SEAL dagger... the scabbard is survivalist an...
