Re: Rising Tensions in the Persian Gulf

IT's up 19% now. I'd say that qualifies as "going ape shit".

The big question for the US is does that help us or hurt us? 15 years ago it would have caused an immediate recession. These days I am not so sure. It may even be helpful.

Re: Unrest in Hong Kong

It was a mistake for China to open the door. It's going to take a while to close it. I'd say the "mistake" was choosing to be assholes. There is a price to pay. One pays it sooner or later. Tiananmen Square was just a delay. Just MHO. That is more what I meant. They started this mess, waiting too l...

I will never be as awesome as Zantra. Sadly I put my 22 can on a 22 rifle and pistol. I mean I could take it off and put it on an AR shorty conversion to 22lr but that would mean buying an AR shorty conversion to 22lr, which would actually cost more than the current ones I own. Hopefully this hole i...

ETA - That is about 11% of the oil output of the entire world. I am sure Raptor could get more scientific but the market is going to go completely ape shit on Monday. SA says the fires are out. I'll try to get more info. That's awesome. However putting out the fires is only step one in a multi-step...

The pawn shop of happiness sent message last night that my latest class III purchase permit (AR with 10.5" barrel and pinned 6" can) is in. Only two more to go then I will be good forever.

It slipped in unnoticed but the Chinese have cancelled all tariffs on pork and soy. This is a "good faith" gesture for negotiating with the US over tariffs and has nothing to do with their population starving this winter.

Flybynight brings up a good point. When our Walmart put in the storage pick up lockers they also added a parking curbside delivery area with express lanes and arrows pointing to it. People are not allowed to park in the special area unless they are having items delivered to them in the special park...

I don't think the panic will start for reals until August 2020. That is when all politicians will be checking the wind with a finger to come up with their latest and greatest views.

Re: Rising Tensions in the Persian Gulf

That is extremely bad news for the Saudis. My bet is they are feverishly plotting escalation or extraction. There won't be any middle ground. One well lit match and it could be game on between Iran and the Gulf States. There won't be any winners from that conflict and there will be plenty of losers.

A nice 100 amp+ alternator hookup from the car would be nice to have....all that is required is an appropriate set of jumper cables...and enough gas for an hour of run time every day. They are cheaper and easier to hook up than an extra solar panel....just sayin. True enough but we have to be caref...

There was an older video released around JW2, that displayed much more impressive speed and accuracy shooting targets. KR needs to be in a good ZPAW movie.

I must declare though it looks like Halle was putting that brace on her shoulder by design. Almost like she had a bit of forethought about it.

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

Since 350 legend is basically a 9mm extra long, and 450 Bushmaster is a 45 extra long, we need to straight wall the 6.8 SPC case and make a 40/10mm extra long to keep the caliber wars going. That would be the .400 Purdey and the .401 Winchester Self-Loading. There is a reason why these things went ...

Re: Questions about power inverters

Did a little bit of interneting. On inverters the timing is often off due to the square wave form. It was suggested that an induction motor on the same load might slow the edges of the modified sine wave making it sync it more with the motor and therefore be more smooth. This would then smooth out t...

Re: Questions about power inverters

I used to have an old Jeep with the inline 6. The extra two cylinders did not add much horsepower but it did jump the torque way up. The Durango alternator is 160 amps which near double what your stock one provides so it seems near perfect for the task. There are a number of ways to hook up a second...
