Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

I didn't actually buy it but a neighbor who was moving asked if I could dispose of some old ammo for them. When I said yes they gifted me a cardboard box filled with about 100 rounds of 30-06 softpoints from the 1940s through 1960s  http://i.imgur.com/OvJoG53l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UzGLkEKl...

Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

Local news sources are now reporting that security forces have retaken control of rebel held areas. In a show of force they are closing businesses (including those who filed lawsuits against CHOP) by not allowing anyone into the “secured area” local news teams that were on scene during the 3rd wave...

Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

I dunno... I'll bet if you spin it right you could easily rent out any vacant apartments there. Describe it in glowing terms, with reference to "summer of love" and being " right in the heart of CHOP, that wonderland of autonomy and free expression, the hottest neighborhood for those of the "in" cr...

An extension of that to a "No shirt, no shoes, no mask no service policy" should not be an issue and if it is, then go someplace else.
I am not a mask fan either but I am a fan of being a good guest on other people's property.

Americans are only welcome in most places because they are perceived to have money.
That bears repeating. JIC anyone has ideas of leaving a sinking ship. Although I guess the US is perched on the upper deck.

Re: An Increase in Violent Street Crime

Here in Ak, most of the violence is drug/alcohol fueled.
It is the same everywhere in the US and most of the world. It is easier to point to countries where that is not the case.

Re: An Increase in Violent Street Crime

1- In Alabama robbery is a forcible felony. Deadly force is allowable to prevent such an act. When the offenders have your car, phone, wallet, poodle or whatever and are trying to escape with it the robbery is not yet over. There was plenty of time from when the victim was GTA'd and before the offen...

We don't need seven days locally. The usual suspects (chicken factory and nursing home) are accounting for a 100% rise in cases around here.

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

They find that they can wield power better if they call people names and slap labels on "the enemy" to shut down and prevent their followers from even listening to or engaging with "the enemy." In fact, what we see in civil wars is leaders seek to further isolate their followers from the humanity o...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

The protest that was scheduled for Odessa this afternoon was postponed due to coronavirus - apparently they were planning to bus in 5 busloads of people from Dallas and decided it was a bad idea.
I wonder if the professional protestors are getting hazardous duty pay on account of the virus?

Re: Could Doomsday Bunkers Become the New Norm?

Now, a proper storm shelter is a valid consideration, depending on the area - but you probably won't stay in it longer than a 24 hour period.
The longest we ever did was six hours for multiple storm bands. In that instance we had a touchdown less than a mile North of us.

Re: Could Doomsday Bunkers Become the New Norm?

I don't know about shelters but having my own park like land to walk around on when all the parks, restaurants and entertainment venues were closed has been priceless. There is no replacement for breathing room. If I had to sit in my storm shelter all day I would be depressed.

If we look at some recent elections....
I think based on current events we are launching into uncharted territory here. If some people are unhappy enough we could end up with open insurrection that will make Minneapolis look tame.

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

Thinking people who like boogaloo memes and wear Hawaiian shirts is a problem is the core issue. Hell, the ZS forums was into the boog before anyone heard of it, there are some tremendously funny memes on the topic. I honestly think the whole paranoia about "boogaloo boys" is being driven as a smok...

Does anyone have the feeling that sides are quietly being chosen right now?

Gun and ammo sales are through the roof.
Don't know about "quietly". Be that as it may if you are on your own one magazine will be all you need if you decide to fight it out.

Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

The people I know that are regularly going into that area are now blaming much, if not all the violence on "white supremacist agitators coming in from the outside." It comes across to me as a paranoid conspiracy theory. I don't doubt that at least some of the problems are from that. By creating a r...
