Re: Folding Saw or Machete?

Both. The folding saw comes in real handy when you need to construct a Hide in a large bush or in a tree. Also handy for making camp funiture, game traps, booby traps and cooking gear. A lot of little jobs you can do with a saw and not dull the edge on your knife or machette. For the little extra we...

Re: Help me choose a 44

I have owned and do still own some 44's. The Ruger is a heavy use gun for heavy loads, The Smith is a medium use gun for heavy loads. If you are going to use standard over the counter 44 ammo, either gun is OK. If you plan to use the very heavy custom loads on the market go with the Ruger.

Re: Those certain guns that you have a soft spot for.

Have a bunch of Ruger Service 6 and speed 6 2 3/4 inch 357 revolvers. Have both blue and stainless also have a number of duplicates. Never carry them, just use them as lay about stash guns. About any where in the house I go I can reach one easy.

Re: bolt gun options, .223/300 whisper or .308

If recoil is a problem with the 308 put a Mag na port muzzle break on it. I put one on a Remington 700 in 375 H&H and the recoil is like shooting a 243. A nice thing about the 308 is you can get AP and tracer bullets/loaded rounds also.

Get yourself 2 or 3 33 round Glock mags to go with that Kel tec and G19 combo.

BTW: they will work in the 26 also.

Re: Fullsized auto's for civilians why?

It has been my experience that badguys respect large guns. Have seen too many badguys that would attempt to give you trouble if you pulled a small gun or midsized gun on them. But pull out a full size 1911 or 29 Smith and they are a meek as lambs. Had to pull a gun on the same guy twice in 1 week. F...

Re: Hunting with ball ammo?

FMJ is great for bone shots. Instead of a heart or lung shot with FMJ you can aim at the sholder and possibly take out both front legs. Animal goes down and you have dinner. You can also take shots that you would not take with SP's or HP's, because you are going to get greater penetration. It all co...

Re: Axe - Saw - KaBar - Camp Shovel Dilema

Keep the ax. Get rid of the shovel and replace it with a Cold Steel Spenaz shovel. Your ax is a dual use item, tool and weapon, that is well worth the weight.
