Re: Remington 700: .223 or .308

I say keep the .223 to an AR and use the .308 for the bolt gun. Just how I have mine set up. I have the 700 varmint in .308. But hey, I wanted it in .308. Why I chose .308? I already had a .223 gun and I wanted a large caliber bolt gun that ran milsurp ammo.

Vehicle First Aid Kit!

Carry one!!! This happened the day before Thanksgiving. I was driving on the highway coming around a bend and noticed some smoke in the distance. No big deal people on this stretch of road burn trash and trees all the time. As I get closer there are several vehicles stopped. One MANGLED Ford F150 an...

My recent bout with carelessness. Did get to make a field pressure bandage. I was about 2 miles from base camp with no first aid supplies. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b56/dubbya512/a9614d6605337d7f73532bec8cdafd06_zpsf55aaf35.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b56/dubbya512/2db6d2b8a54f642c...

I liked it too, but I think the rice vinegar worked better. It may have been the difference in steel though.

Re: First Hike of the New Year + New Toys

what brand/size kettle is that? fits like a glove with that stove.. Does the stove tarnish? The kettle is a Vargo BOT, roughly the same size as a nalgene. A nalgene will nest inside, but you cannot put the lid on that way. Nalgene is too tall. As for the stove, it is Titanium so it will discolor fr...

Re: First Hike of the New Year + New Toys

I really like the via instant for my hiking coffee of choice. Only thing I hate is it's about a buck a cup! Great pictures, how much does that stove weigh? Looks pretty sweet! Nice dogs too, always have been a fan of GS's; so smart. The stove weighs less than 6oz. Super light and packs up sup...

My local pusher of Starbucks gave me a 3 pack of the Via. The Italian and the Blonde were TERRIBLE....tasted like chemicals. Have you ever run into a bad pack? Our tap water is not very good so I am willing to attribute that to my bad experience but wanted to hear from someone who has used them bef...

First Hike of the New Year + New Toys

First hike out for the new year! We went out to one of my favorite day hike spots. Decided it was time to get the "kids" out and have a cup-o-coffee in some nice Central Texas Weather. Hope you enjoy the photos. Emberlit UL, Bark River, and some good coffee. Hard to beat the trio! http://i17.photobu...

Can't go wrong with any tad gear. I voted ranger hoodie. I have the lt version and love it. That being said if you can afford the stealth go for that. Probably the best piece of all around gear in you poll.

Red Jacket Firearms AR-15. Haters gonna hate. My first preference was the Sig M400 w/Magpul furniture, but it was not available in my area. I like the RJF at first impression and havent read anything bad about the gun itself.
