Re: Are zombies a universal fear?

To me zombies aren't a fear, but an ideal of the worst case scenario. Preparing for zombies is preparing for anything to happen, if you feel prepared to outlive a zombie outbreak then you should be able to outlive anything that happens, but I figure I would answer your questions. 1. I believe zombie...

All I can say is if ever there was anything I could point to as a reason that you should have a BoB this is one. I know for many people a BoB wouldn't have saved them and my condolences to their families. But I bet you there are thousands more people without home and food right now without any rescu...

Re: Are Coffee Cans Safe?

Regardless... wouldnt have happened if you hadnt heated it while dry. Okay it was crackling with water in it, and I get why it was smoking, because it was dry. However clearly there is something inside putting out white smoke and and I believe to be toxic fumes. Dry or not wouldn't this coating mak...

Re: Best fuel for BOB stove? Solid, liquid, or gas?

I don't have food that requires cooking in my BOB in the first place, merely stripped-down MREs, protein/vitamin bars, etc. If I can't eat it out of the package at warm body temperature, preferably on foot, I don't pack it. Bugging out and camping are two different activities. I pack MRE's too, fac...

Re: Are Coffee Cans Safe?

if you put it on the heat w/o water, you were likely causing the metal to expand at different rates (bottom vs sides) and that was the cause of the sound. Dont put dry pots on heat. Whether were talking coffee cans, anodized aluminum or even cast iron, dont put dry pots on heat! With water in the p...

Re: Best fuel for BOB stove? Solid, liquid, or gas?

Pound for pound, or ounce for ounce, I find not only is a butane stove lighter but requires less fuel to create the same amount of heat as alcohol. The butane is light weight and a canister of it lasts about a week. Where as a small bottle of denatured alcohol last only one session of water boiling....

Shit, sleep paralysis you say that is concerning however it has only happened those three times. I will look into this thank you very much Braxton  Many confuse it for demonic encounters, alien abductions and ghost hauntings. The most common one is waking up paralyzed and having someone sitt...

possibly because the can has a plastic lining? I'm not sure though, as I only buy coffee in metallic vacuum bags
No plastic lining in this one, it has some sort of varnish it looks like though. Thanks for the link!

Are Coffee Cans Safe?

I bought myself some coffee in a can big enough to just squeeze my nalgene bottle inside of it. However in testing it out a concern has came up and I was wondering how safe it is to use these things to cook food and purify water. My concern rose when I went to boil some water in it, the can started ...

Another one that happen to me, I live on 2 acres of land, my driveway runs between two houses. Seems like you give them a lot of credit for being common gang bangers. Only type of people who really take the time to plan stuff out in this much detail is mafia guys or small groups of criminals. I honestly however believe they were just common gang bangers.

You can never for wrong with a 44, 4wd or not. I wouldn't really worry about it to much, I use to have a little red Mitsubishi that I would use to haul my boat, hay, gravel and so on. I use to also take that truck places that surprised many people. And those trucks are not known for their off road u...

Your scenario doesn't really compute for me. You say they aren't raiders but they tell me that either I share with them or they will take it by force. That's the moment they become raiders in my eyes. If it makes them raiders in your eyes then that is the scenario. Remember this is a generalized qu...

I think hey all had their strong and weak points. Most glaringly as to weakness, Sian of course. Of the others, I'd take any of them for one reason or another. Yes, Becca did a couple of foolish things, but she was 22, and had zero experience with anything like the situation she was in! The problem...

Re: Here we go Again! The Colony!

I'll have to disagree a bit about Becka - from what I saw, sure she made mistakes, EVERY SINGLE person on that show was a screw up except for Tick at the end - but she was always the first one to volunteer to DO WORK and some of the nasty work too. She wasn't taking naps, she wasn't trying to find ...

Re: Pre p.a.w. activities/preps for kids

I am looking for some ideas to introduce my 4 & 6 year old boys to a bug out or survival situation. I have taken them both on a couple of car camping outings and a few hikes with a small pack each. We have also gone over a few items they carry in the micro bobs such as garbage bags, whistle, orange...

Re: food storage within BOB ?

Myself personally, I would go straight MRE's. I used them for a week long camping trip and fell in love with them. Nothing beats packing your own food though, however for a bob it is hard to do that. I could cook up food seal it in a air tight bag and take it on a hike without spoil. However after a...

A lot of camo mentioned, screw that and get blaze orange from head to toe if your a beginner. There are way to many accidents every year because one beginner shoots another, wear orange. +1,000 If hunting with bows wearing orange isn't that much of a concern, but with rifles and other types of guns...
