How I Live Now

I think its new on Netflix, just watched it.
Nothing exciting about this movie but I found it watchable. Not a really dark movie but it has its moments. I think the movie was made from a young adult book by the same name.

I just like hearing different takes on the subject. As I read people replies I'm thinking a little closer to town then first thought.

Re: Distance from town

Geography will definitely have something to do with the migration of the population after shtf. I think also the climate could also dictate migration, although you cant and shouldn't count on a good winter storm to slow down people after said disaster.

Re: Distance from town

Valid point on a certain percentage of the larger town moving in a certain direction trying to escape a catastrophe. On foot I think it would take more then two days since most people are not in shape to walk that far. A bicycle could cover that distance very quickly though. For me a good distance w...

Distance from town

How far do you all think is a good distance to live from town is? I am talking a small town from maybe the 1,000-3,000 population range not a city. Also lets say this town is about an hour drive away from a small city with a population of about 40,000. Also keep in mind that your preparing for a sht...

Re: Congrats, you just won the lottery!

Here is some nice acreage to build your dream homestead, land for grazing, water, timber. A little farther from civilization then I was thinking but I guess that depends on what kind of shtf happens.

Congrats, you just won the lottery!

Now you can spend up to $5 million of it on your new homestead/bug out location/whatever. So go to Zillow, realtor.com or whatever website you can link to here and tell us why you think it be a good choice to buy. Id like to see what people think a good location might include.

The Postmortal

I just finished The Postmortal my Drew Magary. Not a zombie book, it covers the story of one man from the time he recieves the "cure" to the time of the "correction". Its a pretty quick read, Id recommend it. "Imagine a near future where a cure for aging is discovered and-after much political and mo...

National Geographic: Collapse

Im not sure how long this one has been on Netflix instant but I just watched it last night. They compare our current society with the Romans, Mayans and Anasazi and compares them to what might happen to us in the near future. They do this whole thing about what scientists, 200 years from now, believ...

Dead of Night: Jonathan Mayberry

I just finished this book and it was a pretty good read. " prison doctor injects a condemned serial killer with a formula designed to keep his consciousness awake while his body rots in the grave. But all drugs have unforeseen side-effects. Before he could be buried, the killer wakes up. Hungry. Inf...
