Welcome! Jump on the ZS15 board as soon as you can and keep an eye open. We are trying to kick things back up in activity, but real life has been kicking a lot of us around lately. ;)

Re: Motorcycle Gang Road Rage

That was 6 minutes or more. Where were the police? Heh... "When second count..." and you know the rest. I have never driven in NY, so I don't know how the freeways go, but here in the Bay you could literally loop around the Bay over and over and over taking a new route almost every time and never l...

Re: Motorcycle Gang Road Rage

I'm surprised the guy got off the freeway, honestly. I would have been on the phone with 911 giving them a full update of the dangerous and erratic riders. If I had to pull off the freeway, it would certainly NOT be into downtown traffic, not with 80 motorcycles following me. This goes back to the o...

Re: Doomsday Castle

I probably should watch it before I properly judge it, but I don't really want to waste my time doing so. And if I was prepping for a disaster, I'm not sure I'd build a trebuchet or catapult when there's more important things to prep for, and a simple 3-person slingshot would be just as useful and ...

Re: 80% lower receiver??

Mmm, based on my research into this, this is not quite true. You are right on the money right up to the point of "transferring" it. No matter how, or to whom, if you make a firearm and sell, trade, barter, or in any other manner "transfer" the weapon to someone else, you are a manufacture and must ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Castle nut goes on the lower. Barrel nut goes on the upper. The upper block I use locks into itself and the front takedown pin, and all that is held together by pressure form the vice. Honestly you aren't really going wild on that barrel nut, just somewhere between 30 and 80 ftlbs, and I tend to er...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Thanks for all the advice so far and linky goodness. The other catch here... which I should have stated ahead of time... is that I am debating on building my featureless AR as a 6.8spc rifle. So the Brake/Comp options need to be there. But at least now I have a better idea of what to be looking for ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

I use a " Levang Linear Compensator " on one dedicated 20" barrel hunting AR. I've tried them on 10.5", 14.5" and 16" barrels as well. It really doesn't do much of anything noticeable about reducing muzzle climb and reduces the rearward recoil barely at all. But it significantly reduces perceived n...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Question on the Comp/Brake versus Flash Suppressor debate... In CA we have to remove the Flash "Hider" as one of the EvilBlackRifle parts that make it an AW in order to build a "featureless" rifle. I have been slowing building one buying the needed parts here and there but have yet to settle on a Co...

Company officials have hinted that the new model will focus less on the traditional, go-anywhere capabilities associated with Jeep products, putting more emphasis on the on-road ride and comfort that today’s ute buyers prefer. This is why you buy the GRAND Cherokee... sigh. Fugly useless piece of c...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

So I finally got all the parts I need to assemble an upper. It's the first one I'm putting together, in the past I've purchased uppers that were already built. Do I need a upper vise block to snug the barrel nut down? I've got rubber jaws for my vise, it seems like I should be able to just affix th...

Re: Suburban Family Tornado Shelter and Preparation.

If the shelter dealer hasn't said anything about heaver than air gasses - also consider the carbon monoxide gas from auto exhaust, maybe he hasn't been sued by the estate of a customer - yet. To that end I would recommend a gas detector, to check prior to entry - if it goes off while you are inside...

Here's the thing about LE that may have escaped you: LEO's can have these, so there's no point in charging someone , and thus no reason to go to trial , when simple confiscation makes everyone the LEO happy. I'm not trying to piss in any of our beloved LEO's Cheerios, just point out a real-world ex...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

I'm getting ready to build an upper, is there any reason to install the forward assist? I never use it and I'd be just as happy with a plug in the hole. Anyone know of a pre-made plug or something else I can do with the hole if I don't install a forward assist? If you haven't already bought the upp...

Re: Important Info for NY: Law Changes and What You Need to

The two prebans I have are evry clearly stamped with a manufacture date on the body. It's also been made rather clear (during the last ban) that the body is the important part. Not arguing, but was this case law, DOJ comment letters or something else? Like I posted above, CA's law about pre-ban mag...

Re: Important Info for NY: Law Changes and What You Need to

I wonder if an angled fore grip (like the AFG) are kosher? AFG were deemed legal by CADOJ as per the same "No Vertical Foregrip" item that applies here. However, this would be up to the NYDOJ to actually rule on. I wouldn't push to be a test case myself. A point on "pre-ban" magazines. Unless there...

Re: When will prices return to normal?

Prices will normalize over the next few months. Congress stated that any gun control laws will be minor or non-existent as several Dems support the Reps stance of no new gun control laws at least for now. Once the rush is over, you will most likely get a good deal from someone who bought 15 AR lower...

Re: 80% lower receiver??

No, you can't sell it. As an individual, you do not have a manufacturer's FFL, and there is no process by which you are able to record and report the required information to ATF. If the receiver was purchased as 100% complete, then you are not the manufacturer and this would not apply. Yes... you c...

Re: Safety Razors! 1 year down!

It depends on the razor. Usually though, the blade is exposed enough that you can do some pretty precise work with it. Yeah, I see that in some reviews and posts. And plenty of people seem to use them with full beards and trim just fine. I'm just hesitant to plunk down $100 for a decent one and the...

Re: 80% lower receiver??

To add to what caludron said, right now there is no question that "build it yourself" refers to you even if all you do is push the button to start the CNC process. However, there is some grey area in the mass produced shops that have you walk in, lift the hood, place your pre-purchased 80% blank int...
