Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Sweet knife Vlad! Do you sell these as well? We must support our fellow ZS'rs you know! Vlad, also wondering if you sell your blades. Thank you, but no, I'm really only doing it to do it ...if that makes any sense. Same motivation, probably, behind creating your own "distribution" of Linux or brewi...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

I made a knife. This was cut and ground from a power hacksaw blade. The picture looks better on my cell phone... I played an acetylene torch along the spine and handle to ease the temper. The edge was left alone. I'm thinking of putting micarta scales on it. Don't know yet. http://img15.imageshack....

Re: Putting on muscle - fitness questions take 2

I'm very familiar with HIT. That is what I was doing when I started out lifting as a youngin'. In the past I spent a lot of time on cyberpump.com.. However, while some of the stuff I do would fit under HIT(though not my general training guidelines), I've found that in general a higher volume, while...

Re: Putting on muscle - fitness questions take 2

OP has been losing weight and is probably under-recovering due to not enough calories, he is probably not systematically over-training on weights. He is a beginner, not an intermediate lifter. Your advice may be appropriate for an intermediate lifter(all up to the individual and personal tastes), b...

Re: Putting on muscle - fitness questions take 2

I've lost weight and added muscle at the same time, and I'm 47. It isn't rocket science. Eat well and lift very heavy things. Deadlifts, Squats, Cleans, Press. Get your weights on Craigs List so you don't pay too much. Here's your man: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/Mark_Rippetoe" onclick="...

Re: Putting on muscle - fitness questions take 2

I am hitting the gym pretty regularly right now as well and this has all been good advice. I have never heard of the chocolate milk thing, why is it such a good recover drink? It has a high protien and carbohydrate content. And it doesn't taste like poo. For more info, AskMen . Another AskMen artic...

Re: Putting on muscle - fitness questions take 2

This is my standard workout. Although, right now, I'm doing just body weight exercises and a lot more stretching. Kind of changing things up a little and resting a bit. I've cut way back on my caloric intake because of this too.

Re: Mexico becoming a failed state?

Looking at it from a policy perspective and the implementation of that policy (meaning keep the politics behind the policy out of it) does anyone have a read on how effective the new low from Arizona may be at curbing some of the issues creeping across the boarder? Does anyone see it moving into NM...

Re: Putting on muscle - fitness questions take 2

It's REALLY hard to put on muscle and reduce fat at the same time. You really have to focus on one or the other. To put on muscle you're going to have to eat clean, eat big and lift big. Compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, etc. Doing 1hr of weightlifting is waaay too much time. Lift heavy and in...

Re: What to do with empty starbucks frapuccino bottles?

I save them for spitters. Copenhagen + tight sealed bottles = Win 8) And they fit nicely into the hole in the center of a roll of duct tape, which, due to its tacky sides, adheres to the carpet on the tranny hump preventing your spitter from tipping over. Jesus, man, that's pretty good. I was alway...

Re: Scrap(HEAP)Yard Knives

I have no experience with the company mentioned in the OP, but I do have some experience dealing with custom knife makers; so far it has all been favorable. I know how excited and anxious I get while waiting for a new knife to arrive, it's like going on a first date... so I understand how disappoint...

VLAD...Very nice...How thick was your material? Thank you! This blade is about 2mm thick. I just mic'ed it at .075" A quarter is .069" and a nickel is .077" So this blade falls between a quarter and a nickel in thickness. I have been able to get it shaving sharp and I plan to use it in the kitchen....
