Scout v. Hunting Rifle

Evening all... been a while since I've been on. Work has kept me from hanging out on the boards but I continue to notch out time to keep our preparedness updated and range time whenever I can. Looking to fill out the last few pieces of our firearm component for our urban preparedness. What We Have S...

Cast Iron Help from the Experts!

Hey Everyone! A set of cast iron pans were passed along to me. All three are "well seasoned" but two of them having a strange staining almost like spiderwebs. The pans are glass smooth to the touch. I tried the salt rub but the stains don't seem to come off. From what I read this staining may have b...

Re: Spring Cleaning Find: Coleman 530 B46 Stove

I guess it begs a bigger question, "Is a working Coleman 530 B46 Stove just a as good as having a a Optimus Crux?" Keep in mind I already have a hobo stove as part of my bug-out. :?

Spring Cleaning Find: Coleman 530 B46 Stove

I was helping the folks clean out their garage this past weekend and came across my father's Coleman 530 B46 camp stove. He said he picked it up for a couple of bucks when he was serving in the Army out of Fort Ord, CA. Checking out the net and it looks like I'm missing a couple of components (wrenc...

Re: New Bug Out/In Rifle... Right place right time

Nice job. Sounds like that gun shop owner is a decent guy. Just curious, but what is the manual of arms for reloading with a bullet button? Are there any sling setups that help you reload while standing/moving? Without going into the draconian gun laws that are foisted on Kalifornians, there are nu...

Re: What was your first Handgun?

After having done a lot of research and shooting at the range, felt that the Springfield XD .45 Tactical was the gun for me. Had it for five years and never looked back.

New Bug Out/In Rifle... Right place right time

Hello fellow ZS'ers! It's been a while since I've last posted. Wanted to share with you my most recent purchase of a rifles. This isn't a story of all the tacticool features but more of a story about serendipity. Frankly I was in no rush to purchase a rifle but in light of oppressive gun legislation...

GHAT Deployment Day 1 FAIL

So the same day that I sent my daughter off to school with her GHAT to be placed in her locker for emergencies... she tore into the GHAT and pulled her spare battery out because her phone was "down to one bar". Lesson #1: Adult meaning of "emergency" is much different than teen meaning. Lesso...

Re: The GHAT - An Intro to Prepping

After two little earth tremblers last night (4.0 and 3.8) my daughter took her GHAT with her to school this morning eagerly.... but not enthusiastically. After much of the earlier conversations on this thread we pretty much took out everything that could be deemed a "weapon". Anything with a ...

I'm partial to CandlePowerForums.com. 8-) That Ultrafire M2 CREE R5 is a bad ass light. One of my Urbexer buddies has one. Just Returned from Flashlight World

Wow... in my search for my EDC, BoB and BiB flashlights I was introduced to the world of "flashaholics" or avid collectors of flashlights where I learned about everything flashlight from LEDs to incandescents; and AA to 18650 batteries. Very cool! Based on my research on several flashlight enthusias...

Re: Ratz's Home Base First Aid Kit (HFAK)

I really do like the dual-tray plano boxes and like you, would never spring for 2X-4X the price for one that says "EMT" on the hangtag. I think I'll wander on down to WalMart or somewhere, and do the right thing... soon. Maybe. One or two more posts that shame me will probably do the trick. ...

Re: Ratz's Home Base First Aid Kit (HFAK)

The dual tray system is usually better than a single tray system, - the box is less likely to tip. Time to consider some hardware - Otoscope - esp if you have kiddos or grand kinder to suport BP cuff and 'scope fro prerssure checks - mostly for follow on home care. Ratz's Home Base First Aid Kit (HFAK)

Ratz's HFAK System (Introduction) It's amazing after 17 years living in the same house all the different places where a family can squirrel things away.
