Re: Stupid short, Ultra light

Agreed. It's primarily a range toy that should achieve decent terminal ballistics in the 0-100 yard range. My go to is an 11.5" or the 8" blackout when I get around to building it.

Re: Stupid short, Ultra light

The balios is awesome. I love the aesthetics of it, which is why I picked it over the BAD set. For the short rail, I should've gone with keymod as thd mlok doesn't allow for much adjustment. With a 12", you'll be fine with either. I have a Saker 762 in jail right now that will likely be used anytime...

That does look nice.

I concur with AKFTW. There's a 100% chance of dark daily. IMO, the advantage of light trumps the disadvantage of weight.

Re: What's the most effective portable firearm?

I think the basis of the question is completely valid. The standard direct impingement AR platform is too bulky with the buffer assembly which is sooooo 1963... MP5 or even a semi auto SP89 starts at around $7K-$15K. I think your best affordable bet would be something like this PDS by Rock River Ar...

Let me get some pictures taken and I'll post them here in a bit. My vote is for the Draco or 8" 300blk. Greg, the Centurion rail has QD in it right?

QD the front and an IWC/Haley Thorntail behind the MBUS with a light of your choosing.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Well, the good news is I'm getting a 8" Noveske barrel in 300AAC from Midway that I've had backordered for a while. The bad news - they just charged my credit card today and completed my order without notifying me. Not cool, Midway - not cool. Isn't that how it's supposed to work? All my backorders...

Good find!

I like that I wouldn't have to send my knife to him unless it's a custom order. Might just snag a couple to try out.

Springfield Model 67H pump shotty questions.

Looking for disassembly instructions or a smith I can send it to for a workover. Haven't looked in a few months, but I hate leaving things unfinished.

Halp? Preese?

Thanks,

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

Actually you need "10 or fewer imported parts". Here's a handy calculator. You can decide for yourself which US parts you want to use: http://gunwiki.net/Gunwiki/BuildAkVerifyCompliance" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Which ends up being 6 US parts on a rifle with a threaded barrel. ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

That's how I did it. 3-5 times easily at 35ft lb to mate the nut to the receiver.

It's when I try to tighten to the next tooth that gives me trouble. No matter how slow, the wrench won't stay. I'll try to get some pics up tonight.
